Job Description Position Summary: The Facilities Assistant supports the upkeep, safety, and functionality of all Our House facilities. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, general repairs, cleaning, groundskeeping, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff, families, and guests. Facilities Assistants respond to maintenance requests, coordinate with outside vendors, support room/event setups, and provide emergency on-call support as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: General Responsibilities • Perform routine building maintenance and repairs including plumbing, carpentry, painting, furniture repair, and minor electrical or mechanical tasks., • Respond to and complete maintenance requests in a timely manner; update the facility ticket/log system., • Conduct regular inspections to identify and report maintenance needs or safety hazards., • Provide cleaning services for facilities as needed, including office areas, restrooms, classrooms, common spaces, and exterior grounds (trash pick-up, blowing pathways, snow/ice removal as applicable)., • Manage storage areas and assist staff with organization and space utilization needs., • Assist with furniture moves, equipment delivery, and general space setup for programming, events, or meetings., • Support room setups, including arrangement of tables, chairs, and equipment, ensuring layouts meet program needs., • Deliver items and supplies between Our House sites as requested., • Maintain building supply inventory and coordinate reorders., • Support vendor and contractor visits by escorting, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with safety and organizational standards., • Provide emergency response and on-call assistance for urgent facility issues., • Maintain exterior grounds to ensure they are clean, safe, and welcoming., • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards., • Participate in safety drills and support emergency preparedness activities., • Maintain logs of completed maintenance, inspections, and preventive care. Qualifications: Education • Prior experience in building maintenance, repair, or facilities support required., • Demonstrated ability to perform hands-on maintenance tasks (plumbing, electrical, HVAC basics, carpentry, painting)., • 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday during standard business hours., • Interpersonal Excellence: Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong, respectful relationships., • Organizational Strength: Skilled in managing multiple tasks independently with minimal supervision; highly organized with a strong ability to prioritize and plan effectively. Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety compliance and preventive maintenance., • Communication Proficiency: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; actively listens and responds with empathy and clarity., • Technological Competence: Fundamental skill level in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software systems necessary for operational success. Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve facility-related issues., • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and reach for extended periods of time., • Comfortable working on ladders and in confined spaces as needed., • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely., • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions., • Capable of performing physical labor and responding quickly in emergency situations., • Proof of Tuberculosis (TB) test clearance required prior to employment., • Team-oriented environment with regular communication across departments., • Fast-paced, collaborative, and service-oriented, supporting both internal staff and organizational initiatives., • Operates in both indoor and outdoor settings across multiple facilities., • May be exposed to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and potentially hazardous materials., • Requires occasional work in confined spaces or at elevated heights., • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel between sites as needed., • Must have the ability to drive Our House buses (mini) as needed., • Must have an active driver’s license with a clean driving record. The actual salary offered is determined by considering each candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
