Job Description The Fundraising and Community Outreach Manager will connect people and resources to help make affordable housing a reality in Central Missouri. The person in this role is responsible for building and maintaining strong community relationships, managing outreach initiatives, and growing volunteer engagement to advance Habitat for Humanity’s mission because everyone deserves a decent place to live. This role handles media relations, event planning, partnerships, and volunteer coordination to grow and sustain the Habitat brand in Central Missouri. Key Responsibilities: Grow the Habitat for Humanity Brand in our Community: • Partner with Executive Director and Habitat staff to plan and implement outreach strategies to promote our mission., • Manage media relations, including creating press releases, representing Habitat in media interviews and actively seeking event coverage. Seek opportunities to bring local recognition to Habitat events and supporters., • Generate content and respond to posts on social media platforms (Facebook; Instagram; TikTok, etc.) to increase engagement., • Identify opportunities to share the Habitat story, representing Habitat at community events, festivals, campus events, tabling events, chamber events, church events and workshops. Recruit and Manage Volunteers • Recruit, schedule, and engage volunteers for events, build projects and ReStore operations., • Communicate in a timely and thorough manner with volunteers, groups and Habitat staff to facilitate a productive and pleasant volunteer experience., • Manage interactions with AmeriCorps and their volunteers: applications, onboarding calls, housing set up/maintenance, orientation, weekly check-in meetings, supply list shopping, check-outs., • Partner with Construction Manager regarding worksite registration, orientation/ onboarding and Release / Waiver of Liability. Actively participate in large events., • Acknowledge appreciation of the organization to volunteers and sponsor organizations. Develop and Grow Partnerships and Fundraising • Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, churches, businesses, and civic groups., • Represent Habitat at Chamber events, networking groups, and coalition meetings (Examples: Affordable Housing Coalition, Upward Mobility Workgroup, Empower Missouri Housing). Facilitate opportunities for the Executive Director (ED) to participate in events when appropriate to make introductions and deepen relationships., • Research grants, government funding and event sponsorships appropriate to our mission to increase our fundraising efforts. Participate in completion of applications, submission of supporting documents, tracking status and providing timely and appropriate follow-up. Plan and Execute Events to Support Mission • Develop and present a proposed slate of outreach and fundraising events that align with Habitat’s mission., • Execute the approved annual calendar of outreach and fundraising events., • Contribute ideas to staff discussions regarding existing events and launching new events to grow fundraising dollars to meet longer term (3 or 5 year) needs., • Create events budgets to align with fundraising goals, and manage events within budget., • Arrange logistics, marketing, sponsorships, and volunteer support for events., • Create and maintain an up-to-date calendar of events for staff and Board of Directors. Recruit and Support Homeowners • Use community events to assist in recruitment of potential homeowner applicants., • Assist with annual application workshops and onboarding for selected families with other affiliate staff and volunteers., • Coordinate with affiliate staff to host move-in celebrations for our families and manage related media / press releases/ sponsor / volunteer engagement. General Responsibilities • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal laws in all job responsibilities., • All work should align with Habitat for Humanity International standards and values., • Prepare and regularly update an ongoing schedule of activities and events, coordinating with the Executive Director, Board members or other representatives when their attendance would add value in building or deepening relationships, • Participate in regular one-on-one and team meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Communications, Marketing, Non-Profit Management or related field. High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Minimum of 3-year record of successful, results-driven, community outreach, fundraising, event planning in nonprofit. Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking with large and small audiences. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Effective social media management. Ability to coordinate volunteer activities. Experience in grant writing would be helpful. Ability to build lasting relationships with volunteers and donors.
