Job DescriptionDescription: Stephens College is seeking a creative, detail-oriented New Media Strategist to join our Marketing Team. The ideal candidate will support storytelling efforts via web content, social media, email campaigns, and multimedia assets. Collaborating across departments, you will help define voice and messaging that reflects the College’s mission that resonates with a diverse audience. Primary Responsibilities: • Develop and publish engaging content across platforms—website, blog, social media, email campaigns, and digital newsletters., • Edit and maintain the Stephens College website, ensuring content is accurate, up to date, and aligned with brand and accessibility standards., • Perform keyword research and optimize content following SEO guidelines to boost visibility., • Collaborate with faculty, staff and student contributors to develop and refine content, including visuals, videos, and infographics aligned with strategic institutional goals., • Coordinate and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent output and timely delivery., • Edit and proofread content for clarity, tone, style, accuracy and adherence to institutional style and brand guidelines., • Monitor content performance using analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, social media metrics), track engagement and conversion rates, and refine strategy based on insights., • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or related field., • Two to four years of professional experience in content creation, preferably in higher education, nonprofit, or marketing agency settings., • Proven writing and editing skills; portfolio or published work required., • Experience in content management systems (e.g., WordPress), email platforms, and social media management tools., • Strong understanding of SEO principles, web writing best practices, and digital storytelling., • Comfortable using analytics tools to evaluate content effectiveness and recommend improvements., • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines., • Familiarity with higher education branding and student-focused content., • Ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences—including prospective and current students, alumni, donors, and internal stakeholders., • Collaborative mindset to work cross-functionally with Enrollment Management, Communications, and Design teams., • A passion for storytelling and a desire to elevate Stephens College’s brand through narrative., • Detail-oriented craftsmanship in editing and proofreading., • Strategic thinking with a data-informed approach to content., • Be part of a small, agile team that values creativity, clarity, and collaboration Ranked (over and over again) as one of the best college towns in America, Columbia, Missouri, is home to 36,000+ college students and 118,000 residents.
