Job Description Job purpose The Quality Intern supports the Quality team by assisting with field and laboratory testing, inspections, and documentation under the guidance of a Quality Technician or Quality Manager. This internship provides hands-on experience in construction materials testing, quality control procedures, and jobsite safety while developing technical and professional skills in a real-world construction environment. Duties and responsibilities • Assist with concrete testing including air content, slump, and temperature., • Help prepare, label, and transport concrete cylinders and/or beams in the field for early or 28-day strength testing., • Observe and assist with soil and aggregate density testing activities once properly trained., • Support concrete core sampling activities, including measuring, trimming, and preparing cores for testing., • Assist with concrete plant inspections and jobsite observations., • Collect samples of aggregates and soils at jobsites, concrete plants, and quarries., • Assist with strength testing of concrete cylinders and cores in the laboratory., • Learn the proper use, care, and basic maintenance of testing equipment., • Accurately complete and submit field and laboratory reports as directed., • Follow all company safety policies and participate in safety training., • Work collaboratively with Quality Technicians, field staff, and management., • Currently enrolled and actively pursuing a degree at an accredited technical school in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or a closely related field., • Strong willingness to learn, positive attitude, and solid work ethic., • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team., • Basic computer skills and ability to complete written documentation., • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions., • Primarily outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions and temperature extremes., • Project sites may involve noise and potential exposure to hazardous materials; proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and provided., • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate construction sites for extended periods., • Ability to use hands and arms to handle tools and testing equipment., • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and working on uneven terrain., • Ability to lift and/or move materials up to 50 pounds with or without assistance., • Required vision abilities include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus., • Position requires significant time spent at project sites.
