Job Description VP of Sales/Sales Manager - Construction Products Manufacturing (Western U.S.) About the Opportunity Our client is a leading manufacturing company in the Western United States is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead their commercial operations. This is a highly visible leadership role with significant growth potential, including the opportunity to advance to General Manager within 3-5 years. The facility is a powerhouse operation with strong financial performance and a collaborative, team-oriented culture. This role reports directly to the VP & General Manager and serves as a key member of the executive management team. Total Compensation: $300,000 - $400,000+ Base Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 Annual Performance Bonus: $100,000-180,000 Stock Units $70,000 - $90,000 annually (3-year vesting) Profit Sharing 10-15% Additional Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package, relocation assistance Location Northern Utah/Salt Lake City area Position Overview This Sales Manager role is critical to the organization's strategic growth and operational success. You will be responsible for leading a commercial team, developing and executing sales strategy, managing complex customer and partner relationships, and building the next generation of leaders within the organization. This is not a traditional sales management role focused solely on revenue targets. The ideal candidate is a strategic business leader who can balance market share with pricing discipline, navigate complex industry relationships, and develop people while driving commercial success. Key Responsibilities Commercial Strategy & Execution • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies that balance market share growth with pricing discipline and profitability, • Lead commercial operations for joist manufacturing serving the Western U.S. market, • Navigate complex broker relationships and distribution channels unique to the Western market, • Coordinate with sister facilities and partners to optimize market coverage and customer service, • Shift organizational culture from "market share at all costs" to value-based selling, • Identify new market opportunities and develop go-to-market strategies Leadership & Team Development • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing commercial team, • Serve as a key member of the executive management team, adding strategic value across all business functions, • Develop bench strength and succession planning for future leadership roles, • Create a culture of collaboration, information sharing, and continuous improvement, • Mentor team members who want to expand their careers and take on larger responsibilities, • Be a resource and connector for people throughout the division Relationship Management • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, distributors, and industry partners, • Manage sensitive stakeholder relationships with diplomacy and strategic thinking, • Collaborate effectively with sister facilities and coordinate market strategies, • Represent the company in industry associations and market events Strategic Decision Making • Gather comprehensive information before making major decisions, • Think strategically about market positioning, competitive dynamics, and long-term opportunities, • Balance short-term pressures with long-term strategic objectives, • Bring fresh perspectives and challenge conventional thinking constructively Ideal Candidate Profile Experience & Background Required: • 10+ years of experience in B2B commercial sales, preferably in engineered products, steel, construction, or manufacturing industries, • 5+ years of leadership experience, managing sales teams or commercial operations, • Proven track record of strategic thinking and execution, • Experience with complex, consultative selling (not transactional sales), • Strong commercial acumen and business leadership skills Highly Preferred: • Experience in metal buildings, structural steel, Cold Form Steel, joist & deck, or related construction products, • Knowledge of the Western U.S. construction market and broker/distribution channels, • Background in pre-construction, commercial construction, and/or steel fabrication, • Experience managing regional or multi-site commercial operations, • Track record of developing people and building
