Job DescriptionDirector of Marketing Location: Salt Lake City, UT Reports to: CEO Direct reports (initial): Marketing Strategist/Designer, Content Producer (contract or in-house), Social/Community Manager (PT or agency), Graphic Design Intern, Marketing Ops/Automation (shared or hire) About Calyx Containers Calyx Containers is a vertically integrated cannabis and nutraceutical packaging company changing the way products are cured, stored, and sold across the industry. Role Snapshot You will own the marketing function end-to-end: brand, product marketing, demand generation, content, PR/communications, digital, events, and marketing ops. Your mandate is simple: build a repeatable, compliant growth engine that increases qualified pipeline, shortens the sales cycle, and elevates Calyx as the performance standard in preservation and packaging. What You’ll Own • Go-to-Market Leadership – Define segment strategy (cultivators, processors, MSOs, brands), ICPs, positioning, pricing narratives, and launch plans across containers and Calyx Cure., • Product Marketing – Translate material science into outcomes (yield, terpene retention, QA pass rates). Own messaging, value proof, sales collateral, competitive battlecards., • Demand Generation – Build multi-channel programs (site, SEO, paid, email, LinkedIn, webinars, field/events) that deliver SQLs and pipeline contribution with clear CAC targets., • Brand & Content – Establish brand voice and scientific credibility. Ship case studies, white papers, data visualizations/ROI tools, and a disciplined LinkedIn/editorial cadence., • Website & Conversion – Own site UX/CRO, gated assets, and lead routing. Partner with tech to connect quoting and ERP/CRM (e.g., NetSuite + HubSpot/Salesforce) for instant “ballpark” quotes., • Marketing Operations – Implement attribution, dashboards, lead scoring, lifecycle definitions (MQL/SQL), nurture, and SLAs with Sales. Own budget and vendor/agency management., • PR/Comms & Reputation – Secure earned media, awards, and speaking; coordinate crisis/competitor response with Legal. Ensure all claims are substantiated and FTC-safe., • Events & Field – Plan high-ROI trade shows, pop-ups, and “harvest rescue” style campaigns. Create repeatable pre/during/post-show motions., • Own annual/quarterly marketing plan, OKRs, and budget., • Build measurable programs for inbound (SEO/content/PR) and outbound (paid, email, events, ABM)., • Maintain compliant claims; partner with Legal on review and competitor-comparison guardrails., • Deliver enablement: pitch decks, demo scripts, playbooks, objection handling, and industry proof points., • Lead website roadmap (CRO tests, quote flow, analytics, SEO technical health)., • Forecast and report on marketing’s pipeline and revenue contribution with disciplined attribution., • 5–10+ years in B2B marketing, including 3–5+ leading a team in a manufacturing, packaging, or regulated CPG context., • Demonstrated success owning pipeline targets and reducing CAC while improving sales velocity., • Strong product marketing chops: positioning technical products, turning data into meaningful benefits., • Hands-on demand gen execution across SEO, paid search/social, email, field/events, and partner channels., • Marketing ops literacy: attribution, lifecycle definitions, lead scoring, CRM/MA integration (e.g., HubSpot/Salesforce with NetSuite or similar)., • Excellent writer/editor with a bias toward clear, scientific, claims-safe communication., • Experience collaborating with Legal on claim substantiation and competitor comparisons. Nice-to-Have • Cannabis, ag-tech, life sciences, or specialty materials experience., • Familiarity with two-shot injection molding, flexible packaging, or child-resistant standards., • ABM playbooks for mid-market/enterprise accounts and MSOs., • Building interactive ROI tools/data visualizations for sales enablement. Tools & Stack (flexible) HubSpot or Salesforce + NetSuite integration, Google Analytics/Tag Manager, LinkedIn Ads/Google Ads, email automation, Shopify (or current CMS), Hotjar/SEMrush, Asana/Jira, PR distribution/monitoring.
