Job Description The Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) is a Florida-based, nonprofit corporation specializing in criminal justice (law enforcement focus) and homeland security issues. In addition to several other national justice programs and projects, IIR’s Center for Law Enforcement Safety and Wellness manages national-level officer safety and wellness programs that support state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement, their agencies, and families in their efforts to strengthen their strategies, techniques, and behaviors to ensure that officers and agencies are safe and healthy, in order to enhance their ability to maintain safer communities. Learning Design Specialist FLSA Status: Nonexempt Position Description The learning design specialist (LDS) for the Learning Experience and Digital Content Design (LEDC) team in the Center for Law Enforcement Safety and Wellness (CLESW) group has experience in designing curricula and digital and printable training products and resources. This position requires creativity and knowledge and experience in program subject matter, instructional design, and digital and print product development. The LDS supports the activities of the VALOR Officer Safety and Wellness Program, the National Suicide Awareness for Law Enforcement Officers (SAFLEO) Program, the National Law Enforcement Roadway Safety (NLERS) Program, and the CorWellness Program; the CLESW group; and the LEDC team to achieve successful completion of grant deliverables and meet leadership expectations. Responsibilities • Collaborate with team members, managers, and subject-matter experts to develop curricula, creative eLearning products, digital content, and publications, • Work in partnership with subject-matter experts to prepare curricula for in-person, virtual, and on-demand delivery, • Prepare outlines, scripts, and storyboards for microlearnings, in-person videos, and illustrated/motion graphic videos, • Develop, review, and prepare blogs, articles, job aids, white papers, and other publications, • Develop content and data for infographics, posters, and other printables, • Produce and edit podcasts with specialized audio programs, • Support development of virtual training content and delivery, as requested, • Serve as a liaison with the multimedia team, the program support team, partners, and vendors to produce curricula and printed and digital products, • Research identified topics to pinpoint issues and gather data, lessons learned, promising practices, and recommended solutions in support of curriculum and product development, • Assist with project management, documentation, and reporting for projects, • Assist with the development of eLearning modules and complex video projects, • Maintain professional and appropriate interpersonal communications with clients of the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) and program participants, • Collaborate with team members to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement in workflow process and problem solve to improve business operations, • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, • Minimum of 4 years of directly related experience or a combination of education and professional experience, • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, law enforcement background, and/or experience preferred, • Passion for creativity and innovation, • Strong interpersonal skills, • Strong personal and professional values, • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks with tight deadlines with close attention to detail, • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment both remotely and in person Most work is performed in a highly productive and fast-paced virtual office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Employees must be able to maintain a quiet, noise-free remote office space that is free of distractions. Some assignments may require travel.
