OVERVIEW: We are seeking an experienced Quality Controller to lead the implementation and continuous improvement of quality control processes at our DFW manufacturing facility. This role will drive improvements to existing QC practices and implement structured quality checkpoints throughout production, with an initial focus on reducing internal non-conformities (NCs) between operations and prior to shipment. This role serves as the plant-level owner of quality process discipline and non-conformity management. The Quality Controller will partner closely with Production, Technical Design, Shipping and Installation teams to improve accountability, reduce rework, and strengthen first-time-right manufacturing performance. While primarily focused on manufacturing quality, this role may also support internal installation quality initiatives when required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Quality Process Implementation & Improvement • Implement and standardize structured QC checkpoints throughout production (e.g., pre-paint, post-paint, post-assembly, packaging, pre-shipment)., • Drive improvements to current QC processes and close procedural gaps., • Establish clear inspection criteria and department-to-department sign-off requirements., • Ensure compliance with defined QC procedures across operations., • Develop site-specific quality processes tailored to DFW operations while aligning with broader company quality standards and performance objectives., • Support development of scalable quality practices that may be adopted across other facilities., • Lead implementation and enforcement of standardized QC reporting for internal and external non-conformities., • Ensure internal NCs are identified at the point of occurrence and assigned to the responsible department., • Track, analyze, and trend NC data to identify systemic issues and drive measurable reduction in recurring defects., • Drive corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with department leaders., • Provide regular reporting to plant leadership on quality performance and improvement initiatives., • Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings and project specifications., • Approve or hold product prior to shipment., • Provide real-time feedback and require corrective action from production teams to prevent downstream issues., • Promote a culture of quality and accountability across departments., • Support training initiatives focused on defect prevention and first-time-right production., • Partner with leadership to reduce rework, scrap, and installation-related quality issues., • Challenge existing practices and drive accountability for department-level quality performance. QUALIFICATIONS: • 3-7 years of experience in manufacturing quality control or quality process improvement., • Experience in custom fabrication, metal manufacturing, architectural products, millwork, or similar environments preferred., • Strong understanding of shop-floor production workflows., • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings., • Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions., • Quality certification (ISO, Six Sigma, CQI, etc.) preferred but not required., • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. AUTHORITY: • Authority to stop shipment of non-compliant product., • Authority to require QC sign-off prior to progression between departments., • Authority to initiate corrective action for recurring non-conformities., • Authority to recommend process changes to improve quality performance. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • Regularly required to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time., • Occasionally required to stand, walk, or move throughout a production or fabrication facility., • Ability to lift and handle materials or samples weighing up to 25 lbs., • Must be able to visually inspect fabricated components, samples, or installations for accuracy and quality.
