Job DescriptionHiring On-Site Construction Safety Coordinator Pay Rate: $25–$35 per hour Location: Colorado Springs, CO Job Overview The On-Site Construction Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enforcing safety protocols across an active construction site and associated storage yards. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe material flow, compliant loading and unloading of freight, and full adherence to site-specific and regulatory safety standards. The Safety Coordinator maintains accurate safety documentation, conducts routine audits and inspections, and works closely with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and freight carriers to integrate safety into every stage of project installation. Key Responsibilities • Oversee and enforce safety protocols during the movement of materials throughout the jobsite and storage yards, • Ensure safe loading and unloading procedures for all inbound and outbound freight, including LTL and oversized loads, • Document, track, and maintain safety certifications and compliance throughout the project installation lifecycle, • Organize laydown yards and on-site staging areas to minimize hazards and maintain clear emergency access routes, • Maintain accurate safety records and conduct routine site audits, inspections, and hazard reconciliations, • Work directly with field crews to integrate safety sequencing into the installation schedule, • Verify that all shipments, tools, and equipment meet site-specific safety requirements prior to use, • Identify and resolve safety violations or hazardous material concerns and coordinate immediate corrective actions, • Review subcontractor safety programs, preventive measures, and safety documentation for compliance, • Perform regular audits to ensure subcontractor adherence to general contractor safety requirements, • Provide daily and weekly safety updates, including look-ahead risk assessments for upcoming work phases, • Ensure full compliance with OSHA standards and applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations, • Collaborate with vendors and freight carriers to ensure safe delivery, handling, and scheduling of materials, • Interpret installation schedules and safety manuals to confirm site readiness and appropriate risk controls, • Support safety training initiatives, including toolbox talks, to promote a strong on-site safety cultureEssential Skills & Experience, • 1–3 years of construction safety coordination or project safety experience in an active construction environment, • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety regulations, • Experience supporting safety efforts in industrial construction, fabrication, or modular installation environments, • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage safety protocols across multiple work streams, • Proven experience working with vendors and freight carriers to ensure safe delivery and scheduling, • Ability to interpret installation schedules and safety documentation to assess site readiness and risk controls, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams, • Ability to work full-time on site with frequent walking, outdoor work, and occasional lifting, • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with field crews and subcontractors, • Demonstrated ability to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and drive issues to resolutionAdditional Skills & Qualifications (Preferred), • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent advanced safety training, • Background in construction safety management or safety training facilitation, • Experience conducting safety audits, hazard assessments, and compliance inspections, • Familiarity with safety documentation such as incident reports, corrective action logs, and inspection checklists, • Experience working under general contractor safety programs and meeting compliance requirements Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
