Job Description Overnight Custodian needed for College Campus The primary responsibility of the Custodian II - Floor Technician is to perform tasks related to the cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds. Responsibilities • Clean assigned facilities, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, gym, and halls., • Drive company vehicles on campus to move equipment, supplies, recyclables, and trash, and to refuel the fleet., • Restock dispensers and remove trash and recycling materials daily., • Provide coverage and clean-up for classes, conferences, and events., • Utilize knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, supplies, and equipment for floor care and custodial work., • Read and understand written directions for mixing, diluting, and using hazardous chemicals., • Be punctual for assigned schedules and be on call 24/7 for emergencies, including holidays if needed., • Work well with others with minimal supervision, and work overnight in buildings independently., • Adjust schedule and respond to customer service requests as needed., • Experience in cleaning, floor care, and janitorial duties, including mopping, sweeping, and sanitizing., • Ability to operate motorized maintenance equipment., • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safe working practices., • Familiarity with maintenance cleaning products., • Proficient reading and writing skills., • Good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the public., • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and read simple diagrams., • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds., • Significant physical activity including climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions., • High school diploma or GED equivalent., • One year of experience in general custodial work., • One year of floor care experience., • Valid driver’s license and a clear motor vehicle record., • Preferred: Custodial experience in an educational setting., • Preferred: Experience working well with a diverse population of students., • Preferred: Customer service-related experience. Work Environment This role involves maintaining a community college with an emphasis on the new gymnasium floors. The work schedule is from Sunday to Thursday, 9 pm to 5:30 am. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
