Job Description Job Summary The Non-Medical Caregiver provides in-home assistance and supportive care that enables clients to remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes. This role includes companionship, support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), routine supervision, and non-medical personal assistance. Caregivers at Allera Homecare Services are expected to deliver compassionate, reliable care that upholds dignity and promotes the client’s well-being. General Accountabilities Support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) (Non-medical assistance within agency guidelines) • Standby assistance with bathing and grooming (no direct hands-on bathing unless trained/authorized), • Standby support with dressing and personal appearance, • Assistance with toileting reminders and continence support (non-medical level), • Standby assistance with transfers, safe mobility cues, and fall-prevention supervision, • Meal reminders, hydration reminders, and maintaining daily routine structure Support with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) • Light housekeeping: dishes, laundry, sweeping, organizing, trash removal, • Simple meal preparation and basic meal planning, • Grocery shopping, household errands, and prescription pick-up (as authorized), • Accompaniment to medical and personal appointments, • Home management support: organizing personal items, maintaining clean environment, • Support with technology (setting reminders, using phones/devices), • Assistance with maintaining a safe, orderly living space Companionship & Emotional Support • Provide conversation, encouragement, and social interaction, • Engage clients in hobbies, activities, and meaningful routines, • Offer emotional reassurance and presence to reduce isolation Safety Monitoring & Reporting • Provide supervision to reduce fall risks and ensure safe home navigation, • Observe and document client condition, behavior changes, and concerns, • Communicate promptly with agency supervisors regarding safety issues or care needs, • Follow client-specific care plans and all agency protocols Professional Conduct • Maintain confidentiality and respect client boundaries, • Arrive on time, prepared, and consistent with assigned schedule, • Uphold Allera Homecare Services standards in behavior, documentation, and care quality Job Qualifications • Must be 18 years or older, • High school diploma or GED preferred, • Experience with ADLs and IADLs in home care, facility care, or personal caregiving is highly valued, • Reliable transportation required, • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance if providing transportation, • Ability to pass background screening and provide professional references, • Strong communication skills and ability to follow care plans, • Demonstrated patience, empathy, emotional maturity, and professionalism, • Ability to perform light physical tasks, including household duties and safe client supervision, • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on client needs
