Job Summary As Catering Sous Chef at LACMA, you will support the execution of a high volume, high profile catering and events program within one of the country’s most respected cultural institutions. This role is focused on hands on culinary leadership, event execution, and operational support, working closely with the Executive Chef and events team to deliver consistent, polished food for receptions, donor events, private functions, and large scale museum programs. This is a working sous chef role for someone who thrives in event driven environments, enjoys execution and logistics, and takes pride in supporting teams through complex, time sensitive service. Responsibilities • Execute catering menus for on site events, receptions, and special functions, • Support event day leadership including prep, timing, plating, and breakdown, • Partner with events and culinary leadership to review BEOs, timelines, and production needs, • Lead and support culinary teams during prep and service, • Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation across events, • Support ordering, prep planning, and inventory awareness for catering production, • Ensure food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are followed at all times, • Assist with cross outlet culinary support as needed to meet campus demands, • Help troubleshoot service challenges and adjust in real time during events Qualifications • Experience as a sous chef or senior culinary leader in catering or event focused environments, • Background in high volume catering, events, hotels, cultural institutions, or banquet operations, • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines, • Hands on leadership style and comfort leading teams during live service, • Solid understanding of food safety, sanitation, and production flow, • Ability to collaborate effectively with events, culinary, and operations partners, • Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience Apply to Restaurant Associates today!
