Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in keeping production machinery and equipment running safely and efficiently in a fast-paced yet friendly manufacturing environment. This swing-shift position focuses on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical troubleshooting, with an emphasis on preventive and corrective maintenance. Experience with machinery used to produce corrugated paper boxes is preferred but not required, and candidates with an LME (Limited Maintenance Electrician) license or similar certifications and education are strongly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation., • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective repairs., • Use mechanical aptitude to service and repair AOD pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, shaft gears, and motors., • Apply basic electrical troubleshooting skills, including reading and using a multimeter and identifying circuits to support safe and accurate repairs., • Read, interpret, and apply information from operation manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment problems., • Demonstrate a basic understanding of how PLCs function to assist in identifying control-related issues., • Perform welding and work with fabrication equipment as needed to repair or modify components and support maintenance activities., • Collaborate closely with team members across shifts to coordinate maintenance work and support efficient production operations., • Communicate effectively with management and team members about equipment status, repair needs, and ongoing maintenance activities., • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, following all safety procedures and promoting a culture of safety throughout the facility.Essential Skills, • Minimum of 5 years of machinery maintenance experience or proven competency in routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance., • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, including experience with AOD pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, shaft gears, and motors., • Hands-on experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting in an industrial or manufacturing environment., • Ability to perform basic electrical troubleshooting, including reading a multimeter and identifying circuits., • Ability to read and interpret operation manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics., • Basic understanding of how PLCs function in an industrial setting., • Ability to perform welding tasks to support equipment repair and maintenance., • Experience using and maintaining fabrication equipment., • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with management and team members across shifts., • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • LME (Limited Maintenance Electrician) license or other relevant maintenance or electrical certifications (preferred, not required)., • More advanced electrical troubleshooting experience, including PLC and VFD interfacing and troubleshooting (preferred)., • Fabrication experience, including lathe operation and arc flash welding experience (preferred)., • Relevant industry experience in box or paper manufacturing (preferred)., • Experience working with machinery used in corrugated paper box manufacturing (preferred)., • Experience in the maintenance and repair of folder/gluer, platen die cutter, flexo folder/gluer, rotary die cutter, or similar equipment (preferred).Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a full-time swing-shift role with the following schedule: Monday 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., Tuesday 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m., Wednesday 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., Thursday 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., and Friday 1:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Work takes place in a fast-paced manufacturing facility that produces corrugated paper boxes, where employees interact with a variety of production machinery such as folder/gluers, platen die cutters, flexo folder/gluers, rotary die cutters, and similar equipment. The environment emphasizes both productivity and a friendly, team-oriented culture. Technicians regularly use tools and technologies including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, AOD pumps, motors, bearings, welding equipment, fabrication equipment, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical testing tools such as multimeters. Safety and cleanliness are priorities, and employees are expected to follow all safety procedures and maintain an organized work area. A video tour of the facility is available to give candidates a visual overview of the workplace and equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
