Job Description International analytical laboratory committed to global food health and safety through their analytical testing service is seeking a chemist to play an essential role in their laboratory by providing accurate, efficient, and timely analytical services to clients. This position involves analyzing samples using advanced detection techniques, proposing process improvements, and contributing to laboratory innovation and continuous improvement initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities: Sample Analysis & Testing • Perform sample analysis following documented methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), • Operate analytical instrumentation including chromatography equipment with conventional, MS, and MSMS detection, • Utilize multiple vendor software packages (Agilent, SCIEX, Waters) for data interpretation and reporting, • Enter test data into LIMS and ensure result accuracy, • Conduct both simple and complex multi-screen analyses for routine and non-routine samples, • Schedule activities to meet business requirements and client deadlines Quality Control & Compliance • Ensure samples are extracted and analyzed per registered and validated methods, • Maintain reference materials and working standards according to LAB/SOP requirements, • Compile and maintain Internal Quality Control (IQC) data and perform periodic trend assessments, • Conduct secondary reviews of data packages for quality, accuracy, and ISO17025 compliance, • Ensure proper safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment Technical Development & Support • Troubleshoot analytical procedures and coordinate resolutions with senior staff, • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on chromatography and analytical instrumentation, • Develop and update controlled documents and SOP's, • Assist with new equipment recommendations, implementation, and method optimization, • Contribute to R&D projects and special analytical assignments Mentorship & Training • Train and mentor junior chemists within the department, • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members, • Support assignments for Chemist 1 positions as directed Continuous Improvement Propose and implement improvements to enhance analysis quality and efficiency Participate in internal and external training programs Stay current with analytical techniques, equipment, and technologies Attend professional meetings to gain market insights and build networks Job Requirements: • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Chemistry or related science from four-year institution, • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered Experience & Skills: • Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with Gas or Liquid Chromatography instrumentation (conventional, MS, MSMS detectors), • Specifically, we are looking for candidates with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in ICP-MS analysis, • Experience analyzing and producing data packages for various dataset sizes, • Proficiency with analytical software: Agilent MassHunter, OpenLAB CDS, SCIEX Analyst/MultiQuant/OS, Waters Acquity, • Experience in fast-paced commercial laboratory environment, • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, • High emotional intelligence and cultural awareness, • Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat, • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines Core Competencies • Quality of work and attention to detail, • Effective communication and teamwork, • Adaptability and initiative, • Strong time management and dependability, • Advanced mathematical and reasoning skills Preferred Qualifications | 3+ years preferred, one year minimum • Instrumentation: GCMS, GCMSMS, LCMS, or LCMSMS in high-throughput laboratory environment, • Method Development: Analytical optimization with emphasis on MS/MSMS parameters, • Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency with analytical platforms, • Pesticide Analysis: Large-scale pesticide panels (100+ compounds per sample) Specialized Skills • QuEChERS extraction technique expertise, • Sample processing and extraction method development for food matrices, • High Resolution Accurate Mass Spectrometry (HRMS) and Time of Flight (TOF), • Experience with cutting-edge analytical technologies, • International business experience, • Strong network within relevant external agencies and organizations Work Environment & Physical Requirements Laboratory Setting: Work involves exposure to analytical equipment and potentially hazardous chemicals and solvents. Position requires ability to hear and understand instructions, handle repetitive hand/wrist movements, and follow strict safety protocols.
