Job Description Job Title: CVD Operator – Grave Shift (CVD Furnace) Job Description The CVD Operator runs and monitors CVD furnaces on the grave shift, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient production. This role involves setting up, loading, and unloading furnaces, performing basic surface treatment operations, handling specialized chemicals safely, and accurately recording process data and inventory. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret machine data and procedures in English, and the physical capability to work in a manufacturing environment with routine lifting and movement. Responsibilities • Monitor CVD furnaces daily and operate them by performing setup, loading, and unloading activities according to established procedures., • Record process information accurately in written and electronic formats and interpret the data to determine if any adjustments or corrective actions are needed., • Perform routine periodic maintenance on CVD furnaces and other process equipment to support safe and reliable operation., • Handle specialized chemicals safely, following all procedures and emergency protocols in the event of process deviations or accidents., • Read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) before handling or using any chemical, and apply the information to daily work practices., • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all required times and ensure it is worn correctly for each task., • Perform surface treatment operations such as lapping, washing, rinsing, and drying to meet quality requirements and applicable procedures., • Manage hazardous energies in a safe and compliant manner during operation, maintenance, and cleaning activities., • Record equipment malfunctions and process deviations clearly and promptly to support troubleshooting and continuous improvement., • Accurately record all inventory used in production and assist with periodic inventory counts to maintain correct stock levels., • Follow all safety policies, standard operating procedures, and standards of conduct and ethics at all times., • Promote a positive work environment by maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area., • Identify potential improvements to procedures, processes, or equipment and communicate these suggestions to the appropriate personnel., • Previous production or manufacturing experience, including machine operation., • High attention to detail, with the ability to interpret machine data and inspect parts accurately., • Ability to read and interpret safety documents, machine procedures, and work instructions in English., • Ability to read and understand English instructions related to operations and safety., • Ability to utilize computers for data entry, process recording, and basic system navigation., • Capability to consistently lift and move up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties., • Ability to walk, sit, stand, and climb consistently throughout the shift., • Experience operating furnaces in a manufacturing or industrial setting., • Forklift operation experience or certification., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for production or inspection purposes., • Experience with data entry in a production or quality environment., • Experience in assembly, mechanical work, or general production tasks., • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machines and tools., • Experience with inspection and packing in a manufacturing environment. Work Environment This is a full-time grave shift role, Monday through Friday from 8:30 PM to 5:00 AM, in a manufacturing environment centered around CVD furnace operations. The workplace is described as chill, friendly, and team-oriented, with strong retention and a positive atmosphere. You work around production machinery, including furnaces and other process equipment, and may use power tools, material handling equipment, and computers. The position involves regular walking, sitting, standing, climbing, and consistently lifting and moving up to 50 pounds. Safety is a core focus, with required use of appropriate PPE, adherence to Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and strict compliance with safety procedures and hazardous energy controls. The facility emphasizes cleanliness and organization to maintain a safe, efficient, and comfortable work area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
