Job Description SUMMARY OF ROLE The Paralegal plays a critical role in supporting the attorney with various legal tasks, including document preparation, client communication, case management, and administrative duties. Paralegals possess a strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining confidentiality. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and a proactive approach to supporting the legal team. All CHIL employees are expected to embrace our Values of: Team Player Dependable Always Improving Exceptional Service Respect ESSENTIAL DUTIES include but are not limited to: · Client Communication: Communicate with clients to schedule meetings, obtain necessary documents, and provide status updates. Maintain professional relationships with clients. · Document Preparation: Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, letters, medical requests and settlement demands. · Case Management: Assist attorneys with case management from intake to settlement. Obtain, review and organize medical records, police reports and other evidence. Organize and maintain case files in electronic format. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date case management system. · Scheduling and Appointments: Schedule meetings and appointments for attorneys and clients. · Administrative Support: Perform general office duties, including answering phones, filing, photocopying, and preparing correspondence as needed. · Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal information and client data in accordance with ethical and legal standards. · Training: Assist with training of legal assistant on the above various duties. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES • Familiarity with the personal injury process., • Strong attention to detail when preparing legal documents, ensuring accuracy, proper formatting, and compliance with relevant rules., • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment., • Strong organizational skills to manage complex case files, documents, and schedules., • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism., • Proficient with technology, with an emphasis on the Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software., • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, with an ability to actively listen, relate to, and pave a smooth path to in order to maintain the long-term trust and partnership of our clients and each other., • Self-motivated, with a dedication to keeping up to date professionally and technically, applying new knowledge to the job and sharing with team members., • Effective in being proactive with problem solving, centering our client’s needs and wants in all aspects of the job.
