In this position, you will support attorneys and senior team members with a broad range of responsibilities across trust and estate administration, tax planning and preparation, probate proceedings, and fiduciary services. Specific duties include: • Meeting with attorneys, clients, trustees, family members, financial advisors, and tax advisors to discuss client matters., • Drafting legal documents, pleadings, motions, affidavits, petitions, orders, and filing those documents in accordance with procedure., • Researching statutes, regulations, case law, and legal articles; preparing written analysis for attorney review., • Opening and administering probate estates and trusts: valuing decedent's assets, preparing court forms and orders, funding subtrusts, preparing inventories, annual accountings, deeds, asset spreadsheets, settlement agreements, change-of-ownership forms, and distribution proposals., • Communicating with beneficiaries; maintaining case files, correspondence, compliance calendars, and checkbooks; paying bills; calculating executor/trustee fees and beneficiary distributions., • Gathering decedent income and expense information for final tax returns (individual, estate, and trust), coordinating with tax preparers., • Performing legal research and summarizing estate planning documents, wills, trusts, conservatorship matters, creditor claims, and entitlement issues., • Utilizing advanced computer skills, including spreadsheet and word processing software, to track billable hours, draft tasks and reminders, maintain databases, and manage workflow., • Performing other related duties as assigned. Education & Experience (Preferred): • Bachelor's degree, paralegal certification, or relevant financial services/tax certification preferred., • Experience in trust and estate administration and/or tax planning or preparation strongly preferred.
