Job DescriptionJob Title: Marine Electrician Job Description The Marine Electrician installs, operates, maintains, repairs, and modifies shipboard and integrated systems, providing technical support for equipment and software at company, customer, and field locations. This role combines hands-on electrical and mechanical work with documentation, troubleshooting, and customer interaction, and requires prior Navy experience from an A or E division. Responsibilities • Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify shipboard systems, integrated systems, and related equipment and software at company, customer, and field locations., • Perform a wide range of maintenance and technical support activities on marine and shipboard systems, including electrical, hydraulic, diesel, and mechanical components., • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in equipment and systems to identify root causes and resolve problems in the minimum possible time., • Apply a comprehensive understanding of production processes and procedures to plan and complete assignments effectively and safely., • Interface directly with customers to understand requirements, provide status updates, and ensure satisfaction with completed work., • Manage subcontractors and provide clear work direction to other team members to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and to quality standards., • Perform a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks that require independent judgment and technical expertise., • Develop, use, and maintain technical documents, including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports, and task or trip reports., • Prepare schedules, write reports, and brief customers and senior management on project status, technical findings, and work progress., • Perform duties outside of core specialty, as needed, to complete installations or work assignments safely and on time., • Use various power tools and measurement devices to install, align, test, and verify proper operation of marine electrical and mechanical systems., • Follow and apply safety and quality control steps and procedures during all phases of work to protect personnel, equipment, and assets.Essential Skills, • Prior Navy experience from an A or E division., • High school diploma or equivalent., • At least 2 years of related experience in marine, ship repair, or similar technical environments., • Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing structural and mechanical systems and associated equipment., • Proficiency with various power tools and measurement devices used in marine electrical and mechanical work., • Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints, technical drawings, and technical manuals., • Knowledge of safety procedures and quality control steps applicable to shipboard and industrial environments., • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical malfunctions efficiently., • Strong organizational skills to develop and use technical documents, controlled work packages, and formal work processes., • Effective communication skills to interface with customers, brief senior management, and provide work direction to others., • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance and sustain the required clearance level throughout employment., • Ability to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of hire and maintain those credentials throughout employment., • U.S. citizenship.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working with marine systems, ship repair, valves, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and diesel equipment., • Familiarity with integrated shipboard systems and related software., • Experience performing complicated and non-routine technical tasks in field or shipboard environments., • Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate work among multiple stakeholders., • Experience creating test documents, technical reports, and trip or task reports., • Comfort working outside core specialty when required to complete installations or assignments.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based at Naval Station Norfolk, working in an operational shipboard and industrial setting. You will operate within a structured, safety-focused environment that follows established quality control procedures and security requirements, including maintaining base access credentials and DoD clearance. Work may include varied tasks in different shipboard spaces and field locations, requiring adaptability and attention to detail in a dynamic maritime setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
