Job DescriptionJob Title: Commercial Electrician Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical equipment and systems in commercial, industrial, and critical power environments. You will interpret blueprints and schematics, lay out work for efficient execution, and lead helpers to complete projects safely, accurately, and on schedule. The position requires strong conduit bending skills, experience with wiring and lighting, and a solid understanding of electrical codes and construction practices. Responsibilities • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute electrical installations., • Lay out work for the execution of projects, ensuring materials, tools, and manpower are organized for efficient completion., • Lead and guide helpers in the completion of electrical tasks, providing direction and ensuring quality workmanship., • Perform conduit bending and pipe bending, including EMT and rigid conduit, to meet project requirements., • Rough in wiring for commercial and industrial applications, including power, lighting, and equipment circuits., • Install, replace, and troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems in commercial, industrial, and critical power environments., • Install switches, light fixtures, and related electrical devices according to specifications and electrical codes., • Use appropriate tools and electrical testing equipment to diagnose issues and verify proper operation of systems., • Apply knowledge of local, state, and federal electrical codes to ensure all work meets regulatory and safety standards., • Collaborate and communicate effectively with fellow employees and customers to maintain productive and safe work conditions., • Follow construction site safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment., • Perform any other related duties or assignments as management deems necessary to support project and operational needs.Essential Skills, • Proven experience as a commercial electrician in construction or industrial environments., • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings., • Hands-on experience running and installing conduit, including EMT and rigid conduit., • Proficiency in conduit bending and pipe bending using appropriate tools and techniques., • Demonstrated experience with wiring, rough-in work, and installation of light fixtures and switches., • Knowledge of local, state, and federal electrical codes and the ability to apply them on the job., • Ability to use electrical testing equipment and hand and power tools safely and effectively., • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment in commercial and industrial settings., • Background working as a mechanic, journeyman, foreman, or electrician on construction projects., • Capability to lead and direct helpers or apprentices on the job site., • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with coworkers and customers., • Ability to work safely on active construction sites and follow established safety procedures.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in critical power environments is a plus., • Previous work in industrial or large commercial construction settings is beneficial., • Familiarity with construction site practices and coordination with other trades., • Experience working under a foreman or in a foreman capacity on electrical projects., • Ability to read and understand schematics and construction documents in detail.Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work on a construction site, primarily Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role is based on-site and involves typical construction conditions, including active work areas and coordination with multiple trades. Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times, including steel-toe boots, hard hat, safety vest, and safety glasses. No medical monitoring or additional certifications are required to enter the site. The environment is hands-on, tool-driven, and focused on safe, efficient completion of commercial and industrial electrical installations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
