Summary Under general direction, the Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all individuals partaking in pool-related activities and in the pool area. The Lifeguard works collaboratively with staff and provides support to participants and staff as needed. They will create a safe, supportive, and positive environment for participants utilizing the pool. Must have lifeguard certification in good standing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Supervises recreational swimmers and individuals through proper scanning and consistent rule enforcement based on American Red Cross standards., • Prevents accidents and injuries., • Provides emergency and lifesaving interventions., • Delivers safe and effective instruction to class participants with varying swimming skills and abilities., • Organizes pool activities for individuals and groups., • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, • First Aid and CPR/AED certification, • High School Diploma or GED required, • Experience implementing recreational activities for individuals of all ages and abilities, • Experience providing swim instruction, • Six months of related experience preferred, • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, • Strong oral and written communication skills, • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, residents, and families, • Good organizational and teaching skills, • Must maintain confidentiality of participant records, • Ability to meet all agency training requirements (including CPR and First Aid certifications COMPENSATION: $21.75-$22.75 hourly + Industry Leading Benefits Requirements:

HEALTH CLUB ASSISTANT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION Iowa Sports Management's Health Club Assistant General Manager Position will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and supervising all phases of operation including facility maintenance. He/she will hire, schedule and supervise all staff. The Assistant General Manager will create and implement the programming and activities schedule and if requested by Owner, will respond to member communications. He/she will communicate with any committees designated by the Owner, as well as provide a monthly activity report and any financial reports required by the Owner. Primary Tasks · Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and friendly environment in the facility and pool. · Manage and support all club staff, including scheduling, training, evaluation, performance management, etc. Maintain a presence at the facility. i.e. spot checks, check in phone calls, monitor time sheets etc. · Remaining thoroughly apprised and familiar with all ISM and client policies and procedures. · Training of all staff on daily club procedures including: emergency procedures, opening and closing routines, monitoring daily facility usage, completing incident logs, health inspection checklist, pool chemical readings, cleaning duties, and an hourly walkthrough protocol. · Make sure all pool operation and chemicals are within the Department of Health regulations / standards. · Daily attendance at the facility. · Constant communication with supervisor and other ISM office personnel. Secondary Tasks · Complete and review daily and monthly reports. i.e. pool readings, resident sign in. · Ensure all fitness equipment is working properly on a daily basis. · A little service goes a long way; learn members’ routines and habits - e.g.: if you know that the resident always uses a kickboard, take one out for them and train the lifeguard to do the same. · Plan and organize duties for staff assignments verbally and through a communication logbook. Qualifications Needed · Available and reachable by staff and management 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Subject to work odd hours (early mornings, late nights, and / or weekends). · Have a working knowledge of swimming pool filter systems and be able to be in the presence of swimming pool chemicals such as chlorine, acid, etc. · Ability to interact professionally with patrons regarding concerns, problems, or any other significant issues. · Ability to be on your feet for up to 35 hours per week and lift in excess of 50lbs.
