Job DescriptionDescription: A Day on the Job Summary: Day Camp counselors lead, support and motivate campers as they enjoy all that CCD Day Camp has to offer. The Camp Counselor will help during events and lead their group through daily activities, monitor campers, and respond to incidents. Day Camp counselors communicate with all instructors and the Day Camp Director daily while providing a positive, proactive and caring focus for campers to have a fun, safe camp experience. Essential Job Duties: • Collaborate with camp staff to implement and support daily activities and special events, • Lead, supervise, and support campers during age-appropriate activities, including active participation in all camp programming, • Monitor camper behavior to ensure compliance with camp rules, promote safety, and prevent accidents, • Educate and engage campers through structured games, exploration, and experiential learning activities, • Supervise daily swim time in a hands-on manner from within the water (lifeguard certification not required), • Support the Camp Director in establishing and enforcing camp rules, safety guidelines, and emergency procedures, • Maintain awareness of and adhere to all emergency procedures; promptly report and document incidents, accidents, or rule violations to the Camp Director or Assistant Directors, • Assist with cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring the proper use of camp facilities and equipment, • Participate in staff meetings, training, and other required camp functions, • Potential attendance to two (2) late-evening camper events, • High school diploma or active enrollment in school; at least 16 years of age, • Experience working with children, in camps, or with related activities preferred, • CPR and First Aid training encouraged; additional relevant certifications a plus, • Physically able to participate in camp activities, including running, climbing, swimming, lifting, and supporting children, • Ability to pass a background check, physical exam, and provide proof of immunizations, • Responsible, accountable, reliable, and patient, • Energetic, engaging, and positive attitude with a genuine passion for working with children, • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, • Required to stand for long periods, • Walk, bend, stoop, balance, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist or reach, • Push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds, on occasion, • Continuous repetitive motions
