Overview Position is responsible for management of programs, services, facilities, and personnel at a designated park location. The Park Manager exercises independent judgment with no direct on‑site supervision, overseeing daily operations, public interaction, media representation, compliance, and community engagement. Position Responsibilities Designs and implements recreational programs in aquatics, sports and fitness, arts, youth and family programs, seniors, therapeutic, and day camp. Develops and manages all fiscal resources, contracts, and partnerships for the park. Oversees and coordinates a volunteer community park advisory council. Manages the recruitment, training, and professional development of personnel at the park location. Assesses the recreational needs of the community, plans, designs, implements, and evaluates programs and services at the location. Facilitates a volunteer advisory council representative of the neighborhood and user groups to the park facility. Develops budgetary needs of the park recreation services and makes recommendations to the regional manager and department leadership. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating on‑site volunteers, partners, and contractors. Projects, monitors, and adjusts spending and revenue to meet the goals and performance measurements of the department. Oversees the ordering and purchasing of supplies, materials, and equipment for the park location. Monitors, evaluates, and recommends improvements, repairs, or changes to the resources of the park to meet the community needs. Adheres to resource management criteria of the department in the management of park facilities. Coordinates the training and monitoring of adherence to department policy and procedure at the park location. Manages the customer service relations at the park location including communication with the public and marketing of programs and services. Responsible for proper collection and depositing of revenues. Responsible for on‑site contract compliance monitoring. Processes customer inquiries and complaints, training and monitoring on‑site staff related to customer service skills. Uses software and technology platforms (ActiveNet, InforPS, Microsoft Office Suite, Peoplesoft, NeoGov, WebEx) to organize, document, track, and monitor work. Responsible for completing inspections and reports, and coordinating with supervisors, maintenance teams, risk manager, and DPW to ensure the safety of the park for patrons and staff. Responsible for management, planning, and implementation of aquatics programming and service delivery. Maintains aquatic facility providing the highest attention to safety for participants and employees. Works with Communications team to develop and implement a marketing/promotion plan for promoting programs and events to the surrounding community and appropriate user groups. Utilizes social media platforms to highlight programs and services. Must maintain confidentiality at all times. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of managerial experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in Recreation or a related field. Ability to learn computer applications for purchasing, budgeting, program registration, and facility reservations. Ability to work productively under general supervision. General ability to utilize a personal computer for word processing, e‑mail, scheduling, and database spreadsheets. Must interact regularly with other divisions, departments, and agencies to maintain adequate resources and services on site. Must be self‑motivated. Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills. Must be customer service oriented. Licenses/Certifications: CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate; Ellis, and Associates Lifeguard License; either a CPO or AFT certification for pool operation; Indiana Public Passengers Chauffeur License; NYSCA Clinician Certification; preference for CPRP (Certified Parks and Recreation Professional). Candidate must be comfortable working within a diverse organization and have fluency in and commitment to matters of equity and inclusion. Working Conditions Work hours may include holidays, weekends, and evenings. The Park Manager may travel to various locations for work‑related activities and may work in isolated environments.
