Job DescriptionJob Title: Mechatronics & Robotics Technician Job Description The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment throughout the facility. This role combines electrical, mechanical, and control systems expertise to ensure reliable operation of complex automation systems. In addition to hands-on technical work, the technician mentors junior team members and helps promote a strong safety and continuous improvement culture. Responsibilities • Repair and maintain material handling equipment (MHE) and pneumatic systems to ensure safe and reliable operation., • Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, including conveyors, sorters, and robotics., • Conduct predictive and preventative maintenance procedures to minimize downtime and extend equipment life., • Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on automation and control systems to identify root causes and implement effective solutions., • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to support maintenance and repair activities., • Use maintenance management tools and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to plan, record, and track maintenance activities., • Apply data analysis and basic project management skills to prioritize tasks and support continuous improvement initiatives., • Demonstrate and enforce safety standards while working on equipment and within the facility., • Mentor junior technicians by providing guidance, on-the-job training, and support to help them develop their technical skills., • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to coordinate work, minimize disruption to production, and manage risk., • Support conveyor maintenance and automation systems by identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions., • Assist with maintenance supervision activities as needed, including helping to organize work, tools, and resources., • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays, to support 24/7 operations as required.Essential Skills, • At least 1 year of experience working with computers and Microsoft Office products and applications., • At least 2 years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures., • At least 2 years of experience repairing material handling equipment (MHE), automated conveyor systems, or related mechanical and controls equipment., • At least 2 years of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics., • At least 2 years of experience demonstrating and following safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment., • At least 1 year of experience troubleshooting and performing diagnostics on material handling equipment (MHE)., • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting for automation and control systems., • Proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting of conveyors, sorters, robotics, and related equipment., • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays., • High school diploma or equivalent.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with maintenance management and preventative maintenance planning., • Hands-on experience with conveyor maintenance, sorters, robotics, and material handling equipment., • Familiarity with automation and control systems in a high-volume distribution or manufacturing environment., • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)., • Exposure to data analysis, project management, and risk management within maintenance or operations., • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma., • Experience mentoring or supervising junior technicians or maintenance staff., • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a large, automated distribution environment that relies on advanced material handling equipment, conveyors, sorters, robotics, and pneumatic systems. You will work around automation and control systems, using computers and Microsoft Office applications, as well as maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment. The position requires you to move up to 49 lbs and to stand and walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation. The schedule may include weekends, nights, and holidays to support continuous operations. For safety, you will wear lightweight fire-resistant daily wear and composite toe safety shoes provided by the employer, reflecting a strong emphasis on protective attire and safe work practices in an industrial setting.
