Senior Analytics Engineer, Healthcare Informatics Location: Remote within approved states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, excluding Philadelphia, South Carolina, and Texas Compensation: Target range of $45 to $55 per hour, with annualized compensation generally in the low-$90,000s to low-$110,000s, plus a target 10% bonus where applicable Work Model: Remote A remote opportunity is available for a senior-level analytics professional to lead modernization efforts within a healthcare informatics environment. This role will focus on converting and enhancing legacy SAS-based analytics into Python-based solutions while partnering closely with business stakeholders, analytics teams, and technology partners. This position is best suited for someone who combines strong technical depth with the ability to communicate clearly across both technical and business audiences. The role does not include direct people management, but it does require project leadership, cross-functional coordination, and ownership of complex analytics initiatives from design through deployment. What You Will Do: • Lead the design, testing, and deployment of analytics solutions that support business and operational priorities, • Translate and modernize existing SAS-based analytics, reporting logic, and data transformations into Python-based solutions, • Interpret existing SAS programs, including DATA steps, PROC SQL, and common analytical workflows, • Use Python, SQL, pandas, and numpy to build maintainable analytics code while preserving business logic and output accuracy, • Partner with business leaders and end users to understand reporting intent, metrics, and downstream usage, • Validate converted logic by reconciling outputs, row counts, aggregations, and derived metrics between SAS and Python, • Conduct complex analysis, data profiling, and data modeling activities to support reporting, operational decisions, and performance improvement, • Develop reporting, visualizations, and analysis that provide timely and consistent insight for business management, • Monitor system and reporting performance metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives, • Lead large projects and workgroups that support organizational initiatives and strategy, • Create and maintain documentation for business logic, assumptions, data transformations, policies, procedures, and best practices, • Support data governance efforts and help ensure alignment with regulatory and organizational requirements, • Mentor and support informatics staff and end users to improve adoption, proficiency, and long-term maintainability Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Analytics, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, • 6+ years of related experience, • Strong Python experience for data analysis, including pandas, numpy, and SQL integration, • Working knowledge of SAS, with the ability to read, interpret, and work through existing SAS code, • Experience translating or modernizing legacy analytics, reporting logic, or data transformation workflows, • Strong understanding of core analytics concepts, including joins, aggregations, time-based logic, and derived metrics, • Experience validating analytical outputs and ensuring data accuracy, • Proven track record leading complex projects from conception through deployment, • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders, • Strong data analysis and data mining skills, • Understanding of data governance principles and healthcare regulatory requirements, • Basic knowledge of statistics, • Basic knowledge of the Medicare Part A and Part B programs, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, • Strong technical writing and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications: • Master's degree in a related technical field, • 6+ years of experience analyzing Medicare claims, provider, or beneficiary data, • Experience in healthcare, payer, or other regulated data environments, • Familiarity with SAS macros and common PROC workflows, • Experience with relational databases, • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding structures such as CPT, ICD-9, and HCPCS, • Experience with business process design and requirements development, • Exposure to cloud-based analytics platforms or modern data stacks, • Experience supporting business intelligence, reporting, or informatics teams, • Background in analytics engineering or data transformation roles, • Project Management Certification Ideal Profile: The ideal candidate is a hands-on analytics leader who can move comfortably between technical execution and business collaboration. This person can interpret legacy logic, modernize it thoughtfully, validate outputs carefully, and communicate clearly with stakeholders across the organization.
