Job DescriptionPainter/WelderSummary The Painter/Welder is responsible for welding, fabricating, preparing, and finishing metal components and structures in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role performs both welding and industrial or structural painting activities and requires the safe operation of welding, grinding, cutting, surface-preparation, and painting equipment. The Painter/Welder is expected to maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and workmanship while working independently and as part of a project team. What You’ll Do • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, measurements, job specifications, and coating requirements., • Weld, fabricate, repair, fit, and assemble metal components and structures using applicable welding processes., • Set up and safely operate welding machines, torches, grinders, cutting tools, paint sprayers, and other required equipment., • Adjust welding settings and equipment based on material type, thickness, project requirements, and specifications., • Perform cutting, grinding, fitting, and finishing of welded components., • Prepare metal surfaces for painting and coating by grinding, sanding, blasting, cleaning, and removing rust, oil, scale, and other contaminants., • Apply primers, paints, coatings, and protective finishes using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, or other approved application methods., • Follow coating specifications, including surface-preparation requirements, application methods, cure times, and required dry-film thickness., • Inspect completed welds, fabricated components, and painted surfaces for quality, proper coverage, defects, and compliance with specifications., • Identify weld defects, surface imperfections, coating issues, and other quality concerns and complete touch-ups, repairs, or corrective work as needed., • Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition and report equipment issues when identified., • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas., • Follow all company, OSHA, project, and jobsite safety requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and respiratory protection when required., • Complete required inspection, production, maintenance, and other job-related documentation accurately and on time., • Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, outdoors, and in varying environmental conditions when required by the project., • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or superintendent.What You Bring, • Previous welding, fabrication, and painting experience; industrial, structural, or commercial experience is preferred., • Ability to produce quality welds using applicable welding processes., • Working knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, cutting, grinding, fitting, and surface-preparation techniques., • Knowledge of industrial painting methods, coating application, and surface-preparation requirements., • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, measurements, specifications, and work instructions., • Ability to safely operate welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools, paint sprayers, and related hand and power tools., • Ability to identify weld defects, surface imperfections, coating defects, and other workmanship issues., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship., • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, safe work practices, and proper PPE., • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate effectively with supervisors and team members., • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and consistent work habits., • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment and regularly stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods., • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors as required., • Valid driver’s license preferred based on project and travel requirements.Education & Qualifications, • High school diploma or GED preferred., • Relevant vocational, technical, trade school, or apprenticeship training in welding, fabrication, industrial painting, or a related field is preferred., • Prior hands-on welding and painting experience is preferred., • Current welding certifications are preferred and may be required depending on project specifications., • OSHA, respirator, fall-protection, confined-space, aerial-lift, or other jobsite safety certifications are a plus., • Must be able to meet project-specific qualification, certification, and safety requirements as applicable.
