The Role You will play a critical role in the qualification, implementation and reliability of our satellite's avionics hardware in the most intense radiation environments of space. You will own the rapid development of component, board and subsystem level radiation test setups that you will execute at national labs across the country, while growing the team's capabilities through test rack and automation development to keep up with our growing business needs. Through detailed analysis and reporting of your test results, you will inform hardware designers and mission planners of how to confidently operate our satellites to meet our Commercial, National Security and science customer's needs. You will demonstrate excellent test engineering fundamentals and a high level of attention to detail to ensure our hardware and test capabilities are second to none. Prior experience in radiation effects testing is preferred but not required; strong electrical lab skills and a willingness to learn are essential. Responsibilities • Lead cradle-to-grave radiation test campaigns (SEE, TID, DDD and materials) through coordinating test facilities/dates, designing electrical test setups, writing test procedures, executing tests, and documenting results, • Design, fabricate, and assemble production quality test racks, basic PCBAs, and cable harnesses, • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify electronic components, assemblies, parts, and systems, • Perform tests and checkouts using standard lab equipment such as programmable power supplies, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, DMM, SMU, logic analyzers and DAQs., • Develop basic test automation, data collection and analysis scripts in Python, • Own the scheduling and prioritization of component, board and subsystem radiation testing to support the hardware and vehicle lifecycle, • Flash firmware and perform software load verifications under the direction of engineering team members, • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related science, technology, engineering field or 3+ years of professional experience assembling, integrating, and testing electrical components, assemblies and/or hardware in the aerospace industry, • 1+ years of experience in the radiation effects testing (TID, SEE, proton, heavy ion, gamma, neutron, etc.), • Ability to set up and run common electrical measurements (voltage, current, timing, digital I/O), • Familiarity with designing circuits and setups around common components such as transistors, regulators, digital/analog components and RF devices, • Familiarity of radiation effects on semiconductor devices, including how to mitigate common failure modes, • Demonstrated ability in soldering and crimping as well as assembling cable harnesses and connectors, • Demonstrated ability to document work clearly and follow structured test processes, • Familiarity with FPGA or microcontroller-based test systems, • Experience designing, building, and testing electrical assemblies, fixtures and test racks, • Experience designing PCBs using common EDA tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, OrCAD), • Ability to create, read, review, and redline electrical and test rack schematics, • Experience developing modular, reusable test automation software and drivers in Linux, C++, Rust, Python, Visual Studio, etc., • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail, • Must be available to travel up to 25% of the year to support radiation tests, • Salary range for this exempt role is $100,000 - $130,000 + equity in the company, • Compensation will be based on several factors including, but not limited to: knowledge and skills, education, and experience level If you don't meet 100% of the preferred skills and experience, we encourage you to still apply! The Role The software team at K2 strives to blur the lines between the various types of software development and encourages team members to get into parts of the stack they may not otherwise have experience with. This spectrum includes GNC algorithms (Rust, C++), application software on flight computers (Rust, C++), to embedded software on microcrontrollers (Rust, C++),to operating systems (Rust, C++, C), to HDL programming (VHDL, SystemVerilog), to test systems (Python), and many things inbetween. By doing this, we create a stronger team with more capable engineers. For now, this does not include front-end, artificial intelligence, or machine learning development. As a part of the team, you will be responsible for the development and verification of the software used to fly some of the largest spacecraft that have ever been flown. Technical Program Manager The Technical Program Manager will be responsible for managing projects and a staff to ensure project cost, schedules and project objectives are met. The ideal candidate will have experience in multiple IT disciplines and is adept at managing projects in a dynamic environment. The role involves engaging with team members, executive staff members, vendors and external partners. You must possess the ability to promote collaborative decision-making, provide direction and establish a sense of urgency within the project team. You will act as a key advisor to our clients and help to ensuring their success. You will partner with the Account teams to align at the stakeholder level, building and maintaining strong relationships. In this role, you will be responsible for helping clients achieve business value and ROI from their investment with Lacuna. Responsibilities: • Oversee technical projects using standard project management and program management processes and tools, • Build and nurture relationships across accounts to solidify our partnership and commitment to the customer, • Support Product Teams’ development software by formulating objectives, planning deliverables and resource availability plans, • Facilitate stakeholder reviews (inclusive of client, Product, vendors, etc) of functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables, • Formulate, track, and execute project plans with project teams, with specific focus on enabling rollout of Lacuna products with new clients, • Work with Product and Account teams to apply learnings from each client engagement to future efforts, • Partner with Product team on scoping resource and cost implications for clients, • Responsible for stewardship of client budget, • Clearly communicate project status to all stakeholders, • Work with Product and Client teams to identify, prioritize and mitigate project issue and risks, • Responsible for assessing the impact of shifting priorities on the project when changes are required, • Ensure planning meetings, daily updates, customer reviews and retrospective meetings are held consistently and are run effectivelyPreferred Skills:, • Excellent project management skills: planning, scheduling, project communication, issue resolution, change management, and risk management, • Creative solving of technical problems to ensure the ability to translate business requirements into project plans, • Well versed in Agile software project management and the software development life cycle, • Navigate customer organizational structures to identify and build relationships with stakeholders, • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate conflict and foster honest dialog, • Strong sense of initiative and a sense of urgency, demonstrated by accomplishing tasks; improving current work processes; and assisting others when necessary, • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment, • High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities, • Ability to quickly grasp and distinctly explain technological and business concepts, • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally
