Job Description Job Title: Data Collection Assembler / Assembly Technician Job Description The Data Collection Assembler works on-site in a full-time, hands-on role assembling electromechanical devices while capturing high-quality data on every step of the build process. You will work at a bench with precision tools and electromechanical components, follow detailed work instructions, and use data collection equipment and software to document each assembly step. Success in this role depends on your consistency, accuracy, and discipline, as the quality of downstream work relies on the integrity of the units and data you produce. This contract position offers a clear path to permanent employment and advancement into supervisory roles for strong performers. Responsibilities • Assemble electromechanical devices according to detailed specifications, work instructions, and established quality standards., • Operate data collection tools and equipment to capture process data throughout the assembly process., • Follow structured digital workflows accurately and ensure all required data fields are completed for each build., • Maintain meticulous records of assembly steps and process parameters, ensuring data integrity and traceability for every unit., • Identify inconsistencies, defects, or potential process improvements and clearly escalate them to engineers or team leads., • Collaborate closely with engineers and team leads to refine and improve assembly procedures over time., • Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe workstation in accordance with safety and quality guidelines., • Use hand tools and precision instruments to perform mechanical and electronic assembly tasks, including installing small components, fasteners, connectors, and wiring., • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and written documentation to complete assemblies correctly and efficiently., • Adhere strictly to all standard operating procedures, quality system requirements, and documentation practices., • Work efficiently to meet production targets while preserving a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail., • Participate in training and ongoing learning to master new tools, technologies, and assembly methods., • Support a safe work environment by following all safety rules, using required personal protective equipment, and complying with hazardous material handling and disposal procedures., • Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, and climbing as required by the assembly process., • Demonstrate the ability to handle and manipulate tooling and mechanically fasten bolts quickly and accurately within required cycle times, including during new hire training., • Respond appropriately to safety signals and process cues using sight, touch, and hearing., • Support a variety of shifts as needed, including days, nights, overnights, weekends, and potential overtime to meet production demands., • Prior experience in assembly, manufacturing, or a comparable hands-on production environment., • Comfort using data collection tools and software, with the ability to follow structured digital workflows accurately., • Strong attention to detail and discipline to follow procedures precisely, even on repetitive tasks., • Ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and quality., • Excellent fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination for precise assembly work., • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to thrive in a team-oriented production environment., • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, to understand instructions and document work clearly., • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills, adopt new technologies, and adapt to changing work environments., • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and collaborative work environment., • Schedule flexibility to support a variety of shifts, including days, nights, overnights, weekends, and potential overtime., • Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to commit to full-time on-site hours., • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including standing and walking for up to 12 hours per day., • Ability to frequently and repetitively lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs., and to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs., • Ability to bend, lift, reach overhead, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, crawl, and climb for extended periods, including up to 12 hours per day., • Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other elevated structures., • Ability to identify issues in the work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing., • Experience with electromechanical assembly, including small components, fasteners, connectors, and wiring., • Familiarity with quality systems, standard operating procedures, and ISO-style documentation., • Background in hobbies or activities that build sustained focus, hand–eye coordination, and procedural thinking, such as competitive gaming, model building, musical instruments, watchmaking, or similar pursuits., • Interest in growing into a supervisory or lead role as the team and production operations expand., • Experience with medical device assembly, drone assembly, or similar precision assembly work., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings., • Experience working in light industrial or production environments., • Strong sense of accuracy, detail orientation, and compliance with quality standards and documentation requirements., • Demonstrated dexterity and coordination for repetitive, precision-oriented tasks. Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site role based at a robotics-focused headquarters facility. You will work primarily at a bench in a light industrial production environment, using hand tools, precision instruments, and data collection equipment to assemble electromechanical devices. The workspace is organized, clean, and ESD-safe, with established quality systems and documented procedures. You can expect extended periods of standing and walking, including up to 12-hour shifts, and frequent lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, and climbing, sometimes over varied and uneven terrain or on ladders and scaffolding. The environment includes exposure to hazardous materials used in processes such as painting, with clear waste handling and disposal procedures and strict adherence to safety protocols. Personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, hearing protection, full-face respirators, and gloves is required as appropriate to the task. Shifts may include days, nights, overnights, weekends, and overtime based on production needs, in a team-oriented setting that emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Francisco, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
