Job DescriptionFabrication (Shop) Manager – Mobile Coach Upfitting & Systems IntegrationLocation: Tucson, AZ (Phoenix, AZ considered) Department: Fabrication Reports To: Senior Director of Operations Travel Requirement: <10% (occasional field support and deliveries)Position SummaryWe are seeking a hands-on, operator-focused Shop Manager to lead fabrication and production of our mobile medical coaches and trailers. This role is responsible for managing daily shop operations and overseeing the complete interior build-out and systems integration of each unit.We do not manufacture chassis—we transform them into fully operational mobile healthcare environments. This includes electrical systems, generators, HVAC, interior construction, and final delivery readiness.The ideal candidate has led custom builds in complex, space-constrained environments and understands how to balance customization with standardization—helping transition operations toward a more streamlined, production-driven model, while still supporting select one-off builds.Key ResponsibilitiesShop Operations & Production • Lead and manage day-to-day shop operations, scheduling, and workflow, • Drive on-time delivery across multiple active coach and trailer builds, • Establish and enforce production timelines, sequencing, and accountability, • Coordinate shop capacity, labor allocation, and build prioritization, • Introduce and implement repeatable processes to improve efficiency and consistencyTeam Leadership, • Supervise and develop fabrication team (electrical, carpentry, finishing, etc.), • Set clear expectations and hold team accountable for performance and quality, • Lead from the floor with a hands-on, solutions-driven approach, • Support hiring, training, and development of shop personnelSystems Integration Oversight, • Oversee installation and integration of:, • Electrical systems, • Generators and power management, • HVAC systems, • Interior build-outs and finishes, • Ensure all systems are installed correctly, tested, and fully operational prior to deliveryQuality & Continuous Improvement, • Enforce quality control standards throughout all phases of the build, • Identify and eliminate rework and post-delivery issues, • Drive initiatives to improve production flow, standardization, and scalability, • Implement process improvements that support a transition from custom builds to a hybrid production modelCross-Functional Coordination, • Partner with Project Managers, Sales, and Service teams to ensure alignment, • Provide input on build feasibility, timelines, and resource planning, • Communicate status updates, risks, and solutions clearly across teamsField Support & Delivery, • Provide occasional onsite support, troubleshooting, and delivery assistance, • Travel for customer support or final handoff as needed (minimal travel, <10%)Qualifications, • 5+ years of experience in:, • RV manufacturing (interior/systems side), • Specialty vehicle upfitting (mobile clinics, emergency vehicles, command centers), • Custom trailer or modular build environments, • Or similar hands-on fabrication leadership roles, • Proven experience leading a shop or production team, • Strong working knowledge of:, • Electrical systems, • Generators and power distribution, • HVAC systems, • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and build plans, • Experience managing custom builds with varying specifications, • Demonstrated ability to introduce structure, process, and operational disciplinePreferred Experience, • Mobile or space-constrained build environments, • Multi-system integration within a single unit, • High-end custom builds (RV, marine, specialty vehicles), • Experience transitioning operations toward standardization and production efficiencyKey Skills & Attributes, • Operator mindset – understands both how to build and how to scale operations, • Hands-on leader – leads from the floor, not just behind a desk, • Accountability-driven – sets expectations and delivers results, • Problem solver – keeps projects moving despite challenges, • Detail-oriented – ensures high-quality finishes and system performance, • Process-focused – builds repeatability without losing flexibility, • Multi-project manager – capable of managing multiple builds simultaneously, • Strong communicator – works effectively across teams and with leadership
