Job Description Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium Position Description Position Title: Assistant Security Guard Job Code: Department: Security Job Grade: Reports To: Director of Security & Safety FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt Purpose: The seasonal Assistant Security Guard helps with security operations for the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, preserving a safe environment for employees, visitors and property. Essential Job Functions: • Follows all security policies, protocols and procedures, • Primarily will serve as the security officer operating the Evolv Weapon Detection system at the front gate entry., • Will also serve as a parking lot attendant for safe and timely parking by patrons, directing vehicle flow during high-volume days to optimize parking space usage, • Assist guests with accessible parking needs and entering facility, if needed, • Monitor for and report unauthorized parking or suspicious activity to Security, • Identify and report cleanliness issues (litter, debris) to Grounds team, • Report pavement issues, signage damage, or lighting problems to Maintenance, • Place safety cones/barriers as needed for temporary closures or hazards, • Provide basic information about zoo entry points and amenities, • Support emergency vehicle access when required, • Document and report incidents via radio/designated systems, • When parking lot duties are not necessary and as directed, makes regular rounds during hours of operation within the park to assist visitors with wayfinding and any questions ., • Provides golf cart escort for guests needing assistance within the park., • Is familiar with emergency management and contingency planning. Participate in regular drills., • Works collaboratively with Visitor Services to assist guests. Other Functions: • Administer First Aid and CPR., • Performs other related duties as required. Physical Requirements: • This position involves fast-paced work, requiring quick thinking and effective communication with supervisor, staff, and visitors., • Park is large and has challenging terrain that will be primarily navigated on foot and sometimes on carts., • It may require prolonged periods of sitting while monitoring equipment and responding to calls., • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions; snow, heat, rain, etc.
