Job Description Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Brief: Provide skilled physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients restore movement, reduce pain, and improve functional independence. Employment type: Full-time or part-time; exempt/non-exempt depending on location. Key Responsibilities • Deliver care: Implement treatment plans, perform therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, gait training, and modalities as directed by the Physical Therapist., • Patient interaction: Monitor patient progress, document responses to treatment, and report changes to the supervising Physical Therapist., • Safety and education: Ensure patient safety during interventions and instruct patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and adaptive techniques., • Equipment management: Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment; ensure infection control and safety standards., • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, participate in care planning, and attend required meetings and trainings., • Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to facility policies, state regulations, and professional standards. Required Qualifications • Education: Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program., • Licensure: Current PTA license or certification in the state of practice., • Experience: 1-3 years of clinical experience preferred; new graduates considered., • Skills: Basic proficiency in therapeutic techniques, patient assessment, and documentation. Preferred Qualifications • Experience: Prior experience in outpatient orthopedics, skilled nursing, home health, or pediatrics., • Certifications: CPR/BLS; specialty certifications (e.g., LSVT, NDT) a plus., • Attributes: Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills. Skills and Competencies • Clinical: Knowledge of therapeutic modalities, exercise progression, and safe patient handling., • Interpersonal: Compassionate patient care, clear verbal and written communication., • Technical: Comfortable with electronic medical records and basic computer use., • Physical: Ability to lift, transfer, and assist patients as required. Working Conditions • Environment: Clinic, hospital, skilled nursing facility, or patient homes; may require standing, bending, and lifting., • Schedule: Day shifts with occasional evenings or weekends depending on facility needs., • Travel: May require travel between sites for multi-site employers.
