Job Description The Springfield Jewish Community Center seeks qualified individuals to fill Lifeguard positions. Lifeguards are responsible for surveying our indoor swimming pool and supervising swimmers during free swim and while participating in instructional swim and aquatics programs. Their duties include speaking with swimmers to enforce swimming rules, keeping track of each swimmer in the water, and administering first aid to injured swimmers and performing water rescues when needed. Compensation based on experience. Range is 16.50-18.50 per hour. Opening shift has a $1.50 differential added. Primary Responsibilities & Duties: * Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled shift * Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout shift * Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions * Enforce rules and regulations at the pool * Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safe * Organizing and overseeing daily pool operations * Providing swim lessons when applicable or assigned * Maintaining a clean pool environment * Submit reports as required and keep records * Render First-Aid when necessary, in view of Department Policy Minimum Age Requirements: 16 years old Qualifications: Must currently hold Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications.

Starting at $17.00/hour ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Lifeguard is responsible for the monitoring and surveillance of all pool activity within our six lane, twenty-five yard indoor swimming pool. The Lifeguard provides a high level of customer service and ensures a safe positive pool environment. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Key Responsibilities: · Ensure a safe environment in the pool area by maintaining a high level of alertness, taking occasional walks around the deck to ensure safety of swimmers, responding immediately to an emergency, and actively administers first aid or other established emergency procedures. · Safeguards and regulates conduct of members by communicating and enforcing pool policies, rules and regulations in a personable and professional manner to provide a safe and fun atmosphere. · May be asked to Instruct and evaluate members in swim lessons. · May be asked to instruct adult aqua fitness class. · Begin and end classes on time. Be prepared and clean up supplies used after class. · Deliver excellent customer service to all members and participants. Greeting members and offering assistance as appropriate. · Perform sanitary and cleanliness up keep of the pool area and locker rooms. · Set up pool for various activities such as laps, classes, etc. · Communicates any potential dangerous elements of the facility to the supervisor. · Test the water, record results, and report imbalances to supervisor. · Responsible for the opening and closing of the pool and locker rooms. · Attends all staff meetings and trainings as required. · Report all problems and concerns to the Aquatics Coordinator. · Perform other duties as assigned.
