Key Responsibilities: • Adhere to all Baystate Interpreters, Inc. policies related to information security and confidentiality including but not limited to HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, and other relevant regulatory requirements., • Provide accurate on-site interpretation between English and designated target languages., • Follow interpreter protocols and procedures as required by Baystate Interpreters, Inc. and respective clients., • Follow all interpreter ethics standards, including those set by the IMIA (International Medical Interpreters Association), the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC), the American Translators Association (ATA), the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Uphold principles of confidentiality, accuracy, impartiality, professionalism, and cultural competence in every assignment., • Establish and maintain positive, professional interactions with patients, customers, healthcare providers, and clinical staff., • Continuously improve specialized vocabulary and subject matter knowledge (e.g., medical, legal, social services) to meet client needs., • Demonstrate professionalism, neutrality, and confidentiality throughout the interpretation process., • Provide high-quality interpretation, ensuring no omissions or additions, while adhering to established industry standards., • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and customer service while assisting clients during sensitive interactions., • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., • Proficiency in English and at least one additional language., • Strong communication skills and a composed demeanor in challenging situations., • Flexibility and reliability to meet the demands of per diem assignments., • Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills for accurate interpretation., • Familiarity with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations., • Preferred: Completion of a 60-hour Medical Interpreter Training Course from a well-regarded institution., • Competitive pay: Starting at $25.00 per hour (with potential for higher rates based on experience and specialization)., • Flexible scheduling: Accept assignments that fit your availability., • Professional growth: Opportunities to gain experience in medical, legal, and community interpretation., • If you are bilingual, professional, and passionate about helping others through interpretation, we encourage you to apply and become part of our team!

Job Description Lead American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter (Deaf/Hard of Hearing/DeafBlind Program) Hours: Full-Time (40 hrs/wk), flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program/agency Responsibilities: The Lead American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter will promote the Leadership, Engagement, and Advocacy for Deaf Empowerment and Resilience. This role is responsible for providing communication access to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind individuals within the agency. This will include ASL and/or Tactile/Pro-Tactile interpretation to agency staff and residents, interpreting spoken and written content into ASL content for those who need the accommodation, and interpreting ASL content into spoken English content for those who need translation. Additionally, this role will provide guidance for staff and agency individuals regarding communication access. Assisting with the coordination of interpreting and Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) services for agency trainings, events, and meetings will be valuable. Assist in transforming agency policies and pertinent information to be more accessible for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and/or DeafBlind staff. Required Qualifications/Skills/Training: ● Minimum 1 year of successful interpreter experience ● Successfully completed Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MCDHH) Interpreter Screening ● National Association for the Deaf (NAD) Level IV; National Interpreter Certification (NIC), preferred ● Actively on the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) ● Ability to communicate by gestures and other non-verbal modes ● Knowledge and awareness of Deaf culture, cultural diversity, and knowledge of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind service delivery system ● Proficiency in written English and competent in computer applications; some remote work possible ● Ability to establish a positive rapport with individuals from different ethnic, cultural, and/or economic backgrounds ● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation ● Ability to work both collaboratively and independently **Specific trainings will be provided as required
