Job Description:\n\nEXPERIENCED LAWN & PEST TECHNICIAN\n$22–$26/HR | PLANO, TX\nWeekly Pay | Full Benefits | Year-Round Work\nWHO WE ARE\nVillage Green Lawn & Pest has served North Texas homeowners since 1980. We're a locally owned company based in downtown Plano — not a national franchise, not a corporate call center. Our lead technician has been with us for over 13 years. Several of our crew have been here 5+ years. People don't stay that long by accident, and they don't stay at companies that treat them like replaceable parts.\nWe're growing because we keep our people and they do good work. We're looking for experienced outdoor workers who want to own their routes, build customer relationships that last, and actually move up in a company where the owner knows your name.\nWHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR\nWe're looking for experienced outdoor workers who can produce from day one.\nYou should have at least 3 years of documented experience in lawn care, pest control, landscaping, construction, or similar outdoor work. We're not training from scratch — we're training you on our systems, standards, and routes.\nPay reflects your experience and fit: $22–$24/hr for solid 3–4 year backgrounds, $25–$26/hr for 5+ years or demonstrated mastery of the work.\nIf you're reliable, detail-oriented, take pride in your work, and ready to own a route — we want to talk to you.\nOUR CORE VALUES\nWe hire for them and we keep them.\n● Do the right thing. For customers and team members. Every day.\n● Strive for excellence. Work hard and smart. Care about the quality of your work. Don't quit when it gets hard.\n● Coach and be coachable. Be humble, hungry, and willing to learn. We'll invest in your growth if you show up ready to listen and adapt.\n● Care about the team and customers. People first. Respect everyone. Help others. Keep it drama-free.\nTHE HONEST PICTURE OF THIS ROLE\nThis is outdoor work. Year-round. In North Texas.\nThat means hot summers (90–105°ree;F), cold winter mornings, and physically active days on residential routes. You'll lift 50 lbs regularly. You'll be on your feet for 8+ hours. You'll inspect properties, apply treatments, maintain detailed service records, and communicate with homeowners.\nIf that sounds like your kind of work, keep reading. If you'd rather be indoors, this one isn't the right fit — and we'd rather be straight with you now.\nHOW WE ONBOARD YOU\nYou're coming in with experience. We're not teaching you how to work hard or how to work outside. We're teaching you on our systems, our standards, our customer expectations, and our routes.\nHere's what that looks like:\n● Week 1–2: Route shadowing with your field manager. You'll see how we operate, meet customers, understand our standards.\n● Week 3–4: Ride-alongs on actual routes. You'll do the work alongside someone who knows our way.\n● Week 5+: You're running your own route with check-ins and support.\nAfter 90 days, you'll be fully independent, running your own customer relationships, and hitting full production numbers.\nWe'll support you in working toward your pesticide license during your first year. That's an investment we make in people we want to keep.\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\n● Build and own a residential route in and around Plano, Richardson, McKinney, Frisco, and Garland. You'll service the same customers consistently — they'll know you, trust you, and ask for you by name.\n● Diagnose and treat lawn care, mosquito, and pest control issues. You're not just applying treatments; you're identifying problems, explaining options to homeowners, and delivering solutions.\n● Own the customer relationship. You'll inspect properties, document findings, communicate clearly, and handle questions in the field. Your customer notes become the history we build on.\n● Maintain detailed service records—because accuracy drives everything. Your notes tell the story of what we did, why we did it, and what comes next. This is how we keep customers for years, not months.\n● Keep your truck, equipment, and uniform at professional standards. You represent Village Green every day. Customers notice the details.\n● Follow all safety procedures. Non-negotiable. Period.\nWHAT WE OFFER PAY AND STABILITY\n● $22–$26/hr based on your experience and fit. We verify work history and pay you for what you bring.\n● Weekly pay via direct deposit. No surprises, no delays.\n● Stable, year-round work — no seasonal layoffs. You build a customer base and keep it. Winter slowdowns happen in this industry; we don't cut people. You stay employed.BENEFITS THAT MATTER\n● Health insurance, life insurance, vision insurance — starting day one\n● 401(k) with company match\n● Paid holidays and vacation time\n● Company truck, tools, uniforms, and safety gear — all provided and maintained. You don't buy equipment or maintain a fleet.WHAT YOU ACTUALLY GET\n● Local routes, local office, local team. No corporate overhead, no franchise playbook, no call center. You work for people who actually run the business, not shareholders in another state.\n● A manager who knows you. Orlando (field manager) and Ken (owner) are here. They know your name, your work, your customers. This isn't a pyramid where you're invisible.\n● Room to build something. We're growing. If you perform, we talk about what comes next — more responsibility, more routes, different roles. The path exists for people who stay.\n● Respect for your experience. You're not starting from scratch. Your background matters. We're not going to tell you how to work; we're going to tell you our systems and trust you to execute.\nOUR HIRING PROCESS\nWe take this seriously because we want the right fit — for us, and for you. The process typically takes 2–4 weeks. Here's what to expect:STEP 1: APPLICATION REVIEW (2–3 business days)\nWe review applications quickly. If you meet our requirements, we'll text or email you with next steps. If we don't move forward, we'll let you know why.STEP 2: MEET AND GREET FORM (Submit within 2 days; we review within 3 days)\nYou'll complete a brief form. This isn't busywork—we're looking at your work history, how you talk about past employers, what you're looking for, and how you explain gaps or job changes. We're assessing fit, not just credentials.STEP 3: SMALL GROUP INTERVIEW (Scheduled within 1 week)\nWe'll invite you to our shop for an informal group interview with a few other candidates. We're getting to know you in conversation. You're seeing our space, meeting the team, and deciding if this feels right.\nWe'll record this interview so our full team (field manager, technicians, office staff) can review it and weigh in on fit before we move to the ride-along. Hiring decisions here are a team decision, not just one person's call. Everyone who'll be working with you gets a say.\nThis typically takes 1–1.5 hours.STEP 4: PAID RIDE-ALONG (Scheduled within 1 week; full 8-hour day)\nIf we both want to continue, you'll work an actual route with one of our technicians. We'll pay you for the full day ($22–26/hr depending on your level). You'll see the real work, the customers, the pace, and what it actually feels like. We'll see how you work in the field—your communication, your pace, your problem-solving, how you handle challenges. This is the most important step for both of us. We schedule this around your availability, including early mornings if you need to arrange your current job.DECISION & OFFER (Within 2–3 days after ride-along)\nIf we both feel it's the right fit, we'll make an offer. If not, we'll be honest about why and answer any questions you have.\nWe move thoughtfully through this process because a bad hire hurts everyone. But we also move quickly with candidates we want. If you're a fit, you'll know within 2–3 weeks. We're not going to string you along or make you wait weeks between steps. If we're interested, you'll hear from us within days.\nFull transparency: This is a real process, not a formality. We've turned down people in every stage—including the ride-along—because the fit wasn't there. And candidates have decided Village Green isn't for them. That's okay. That's the point. We want people who are genuinely excited about this work and who fit our culture.\nREADY TO APPLY?\nIf this sounds like your next move, here's what to do:\nApply through Indeed or Workable. No cover letter needed. A resume is helpful, but not required — if you don't have one, a brief work history in the application is fine.\nHERE'S WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:\nWe review applications within 2–3 business days. If you meet our requirements, you'll hear from us by text or email with next steps. If we don't move forward, we'll let you know why.\nWe're not going to ghost you or leave you wondering. You'll know where you stand at every step.\nRequirements\nREQUIREMENTSMUST-HAVES\n● Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Insurance requirement. (Age consideration: We typically hire 25+, but clean record + experience can work for younger candidates — we'll verify with insurance.)\n● Background check required. We screen for customer safety and insurance purposes. We're not automatic disqualifiers—if you have something on your record, be honest about it upfront. We hire character and honesty over perfection. If you've made mistakes and you own them, that's worth talking about.\n● Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and sustain physical outdoor work in North Texas heat (90–105°ree;F summers), cold mornings, and all-day routes.\n● Lives within reasonable commute of Plano, TX. Year-round work means consistent availability.WHO YOU ARE\n● Detail-oriented and organized. You care about the quality of your work, not just getting through the day.\n● Reliable and professional. You show up on time, you communicate, you handle problems without drama.\n● Self-motivated. You ask what's next, not what should I do. We're not micromanaging you.\n● English required; Spanish is a plus. Homeowner communication matters.\nBenefitsPAY AND STABILITY\n● $22–$26/hr based on your experience and fit.
