Job Description Job Title: Service Technician Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt (Hourly) Reports to: Service Manager & Field Operations Manager Job Description Must be able to work in different customer environments and represent the company in a professional and courteous manner. Also, must be able to multitask and analyze problems logically to develop a plan of action that includes communication and safety and installations that will be NEC code compliant. Employee will need to show ability to communicate with project teams, teamwork, skills building, teaching and development of apprentice, and culture management. Direct, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for electrical projects and/or service task. Maintain and provide for safe conditions and operations of all electrical systems for electrical projects or service task. Must be able to take direction from supervisors and implement best trade practice to accomplish tasks. Job Responsibilities and Duties · Oversee field crews of 1 to several electricians to ensure correct methods of electrical construction are followed. · Enforce company safety rules/regulations and report violations to senior staff. · Coordinate with electrical Superintendent in the management of electrical installations and project production. · Basic use and knowledge of computer and software applications for producing schedules, material requests, daily reports, and required safety documents. Excel, Bluebeam, Word Doc, Email / Calendar. · Able to drive and maintain company vehicle including monitoring for scheduled maintenance. · Produce a Two (2) and Six (6) week schedule/production forecast with minimal supervision from direct supervisor. · Execute daily reports, JHA’s, and tool box talks by documenting and reporting the progress of all labor crews. · Ensures that the jobsite stays clean and all materials orderly and verify materials deliveries and staging are coordinated and executed to meet project requirements. · Assists other electricians in learning to look at projects and challenges from a higher vantage point to encompass a broader view of the project process. · Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company safety guidelines and OSHA requirements. Report any violations of policies, procedures, and guidelines immediately to supervisor. · Lockout/Tagout; Must understand, implement, and maintain LOTO procedure. · Install, repair, and connect power supply wiring, cables, raceway and electrical apparatus for electrical systems and components while following safety guidelines, electrical codes, manuals, specifications, drawings, schematics, and blueprints for new and existing facilities. · Use of ladders, scaffolding, platform, and lifts to work on electrical systems. · Maintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate properly to be used safely; report any issues to immediate supervisor. · Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threaders and benders. · Create and coordinate layout and installation documents for assigned task. · Create and develop material request forms for assigned task and /or scope. · Create tool inventory for assigned task and /or scope of work as required. · Perform inspections and maintenance on electrical systems to ensure safety and functionality. · Adhere to all applicable requirements, including NEC, safety standards and local codes. · Inventory and properly track supplies, equipment, tools, and machinery before and after use each day. · Communicate with customers and coworkers effectively to promote a Team environment and maintain company culture. · Guide and teach apprentices electrical installation practices. · Participate in safety, certifications and educational training classes as provided by company. · Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems and equipment utilizing testing instruments and equipment. Job Skills & Qualifications Education/Certifications · Valid Texas Journeyman Electricians License · Valid Texas driver’s license · Must pass criminal background check and drug test · High school diploma / GED · Possess current NEC code book Experience · Minimum six years of experience in the electrical construction industry. · Previous experience working on commercial and/or industrial electrical systems. · Previous experience as service technician and troubleshooting. · Previous experience with customer relations. Special Knowledge/Skills · Proficiency with the National Electrical Code and knowledge of local electrical codes. · Follow established safety procedures and techniques for use of tools, lifting, climbing, or other for best trade practice. · Correct unsafe working conditions and report to supervisor immediately. · Ability to read and interpret basic specifications, drawings, blueprints, schematics, and written reference material. · Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. · Ability to perform mathematical calculations as needed for electrical application. · Ability to diagnose and resolve problems. · Ability to use hand and power tools. · Basic computer skills for reports, scheduling, and assigned tasks. Equipment Used · Multimeters, ohmmeters and miscellaneous testing equipment, wire pullers, pipe benders and threaders, hand and power tools (saws, drills, etc..), trencher, jackhammers, concrete saw, core machine, ladders, potential light truck or van. Working Conditions- Mental/Physical and Environmental Factors · Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching and heavy lifting and carrying, and use of a variety of tools. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around electrical systems, outside and inside work exposed to extreme temperatures.
