Job Description Summary/Objective: Development-level position using standard methods and equipment to collect traffic data, perform field observations, and compile information to produce quality project deliverables in accordance with company and contract standards. Works closely with more experienced members of the team to develop technical knowledge, safe work habits, and work efficiency. Essential Functions • Contribute to the collection of data about traffic flow, crashes, land usage, and roadway geometry, • Collect and help prepare and transfer data using prescribed software or other appropriate methods, • Set up and operate field equipment including video collection units, pneumatic tubes, and magnetic traffic counters, • Follow all field and traffic safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), • Check work product for Quality Control - Quality Assurance purposes and help identify issues or errors, • Work collaboratively with team members to gain technical and safety knowledge and work efficiency, • Work on assignments of increased difficulty as proficiency increases, • Perform other duties as required Education/Experience • High School diploma or equivalent required, • 2+ years of applicable experience, • Valid driver's license required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Contribute to the collection of data about traffic flow, crashes, land usage, and roadway geometry, • Collect and help prepare and transfer data using prescribed software or other appropriate methods, • Set up and operate field equipment including video collection units, pneumatic tubes, and magnetic traffic counters, • Follow all field and traffic safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), • Check work product for Quality Control - Quality Assurance purposes and help identify issues or errors, • Work collaboratively with team members to gain technical and safety knowledge and work efficiency, • Work on assignments of increased difficulty as proficiency increases, • Perform other duties as required, • Effectively maintains office and field health & safety requirements and protocols, • Maintains a work schedule conducive to team collaboration and project-specific requirements Physical Requirements • Requires primarily field work and exposure to outside weather and environmental conditions, • Requires long periods of driving or riding in a vehicle and performing physical activities including stooping, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds several times a day This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties and/or responsibilities required of the employee for this position.
