Immediate opening for a Senior Electro Mechanical Assembler in Irvine, CA who possesses: • 10+ years of experience building multiple different cables and harnesses daily, • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, wire lists, and technical drawings, • Experience soldering wires; solder sleeve experience is a huge plus, • Ability to splice wires and complete complex custom cable and harness builds FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Senior Electro Mechanical Assembler to support complex cable, harness, tester, rack, and mechanical assembly work within a defense and aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a highly experienced assembler who is comfortable working independently from schematics, wiring diagrams, work orders, and technical drawings. The selected candidate will work on custom, customer-specific builds rather than repetitive assembly line production, requiring strong versatility, accuracy, and problem-solving skills. The selected candidate will be responsible for: • Constructing cables and harnesses from schematics, wiring diagrams, wire lists, and technical drawings, • Building multiple different custom cables and harnesses based on customer-specific work orders, • Pulling cables through braiding and tubing as required, • Splicing wires and completing soldering work for wire and harness assemblies, • Constructing complex harnesses with multiple connectors and branch points, • Reading schematics based on length, routing, and connection requirements, • Constructing interface test adapters including internal wiring and related assemblies, • Supporting assembly and wiring of test systems, rack systems, and portable testers, • Completing mechanical assembly work from manufacturer assembly instructions, • Using tools such as torque wrenches, soldering irons, continuity testers, calipers, pin extraction tools, wire crimpers, riveting tools, and related equipment, • Sending completed work to test inspection, addressing feedback, and completing final assembly requirements, • Working independently to troubleshoot and resolve assembly challenges, • Following verbal and written assembly instructions, • Supporting prototype builds and custom production requirements, • Maintaining quality, accuracy, and consistency in a low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing environment, • Following safety procedures and maintaining an organized work area The selected candidate will also possess: • 10+ years of electro mechanical assembly, cable assembly, or harness assembly experience preferred, • Senior-level cable and harness building experience required, • Experience building multiple types of cables and harnesses, not only repetitive single-product assemblies, • Experience with custom cable and harness builds strongly preferred, • Experience reading schematics, blueprints, wire lists, mechanical drawings, and fabrication drawings, • Experience soldering wires required, • Solder sleeve experience strongly preferred, • Ability to splice wires required, • Cable and harness housing experience preferred, • IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 experience preferred, • Experience constructing military, aerospace, defense, or ATE cables and harnesses preferred, • Experience with mechanical assembly and wiring of test systems preferred, • Ability to work independently and solve problems without close supervision, • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, • Ability to work in a casual onsite manufacturing environment, • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands for detailed assembly work throughout the shift, • Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements while wiring, crimping, soldering, and assembling components, • Ability to use hand tools, soldering tools, continuity testers, calipers, pin extraction tools, wire crimpers, riveting tools, and related assembly equipment, • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings for extended periods, • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials, tools, assemblies, and equipment as needed, • Ability to work at a bench or workstation for extended periods, • Ability to work safely around manufacturing tools, equipment, and electronic assembly materials, • Ability to follow applicable safety procedures and use required protective equipment as needed Salary Range: $28 to $35/hour More information can be found at www.defensesearchusa.com.
