Job Description GenerationEd Job title Bus Driver Program Head Start and Early Head Start Reports to Transportation Driver General Description It is the responsibility of the Bus Driver to work under the supervision of the Transportation Manager when duties relate to the transportation of children, and parents, on assigned route or other duties as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Transporter of children, • Perform daily morning and evening inspections as outlined in Transportation Policies and Procedures., • Maintain an accurate and consistent time schedule for beginning the daily route, workday and other trips at assigned time., • Ensure safe driving and exercise appropriate caution., • Keep an accurate mileage record of all bus usage, to be turned in to the Transportation Manager the last working day of each month., • Keep bus fueled and turn in fuel receipts to the Transportation Manager on the last working day of the month., • Complete Vehicle Maintenance Request Form for all vehicle maintenance needed., • Drive for special occasions, field trips, parent, and other agency activities., • Drive routes and make stops as directed by the Transportation Director., • Keep assigned vehicles clean inside and outside., • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications • High School diploma or equivalent., • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with P/S Endorsement., • Ability to work well with others., • Ability to maintain good relationships with young children., • NC DOT Physical, • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively the duties required for the job including verbal ability to communicate, auditory capacity to respond to children and adults, visual ability to complete written assignments and physical ability to complete assignments given accommodations as required by law. Physical, Mental and/or Visual Demands • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day., • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs., • Must be able to bend and stoop., • Must be able to walk extended periods throughout the day monitoring., • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time., • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
