Job Description Job Duties & Responsibilities: Include the following, as well as other duties that may be assigned. Purpose of Role: Safely drives truck on runs usually from factory to warehouse and back. Loads and unloads truck and transports materials or complete stock through factory or warehouse on hand trucks. Assist Lead in all functions of the shipping department to reach company defined objectives. This position is responsible for completing daily schedule. Move finished product and filling orders. Verify quantity, quality, labels and addresses of products and items of merchandise ready for shipment at manufacturing or commercial establishment: count, weigh, measure or examine packaging and contents of items for conformance to company specifications. Compare items packed with customer’s order and other identifying data. What You Will Be Doing: • Drives truck from GMi to required location., • Pick up material/parts from suppliers when required., • Label and release for shipment completed stock and parts to carrier specified by shipping order. Report such releases to office., • Assist loading cars or trucks for safe delivery of completed stock to transfer point., • Work with customer experience & logistics coordinator on order details to provide customers with best delivery experience, • Prepare shipping orders as necessary. Stretch wrapping, strapping, etc., • Communicate effectively with manager and other employees regarding problems, schedule, late orders, shortages, inspection, and completion of items (communicate and work with production scheduling to ensure workloads are within capacities)., • Sort, label and move products to correct location., • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies., • Operate forklift or use hand truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area., • Load, unload and move material within or near plant, yard or work site performing any combination of the following duties: read work order or follow oral instruction to ascertain material or containers to be moved., • Load live docked carriers/trucks and write down time trucks arrived., • Work closely with other production departments to make sure daily shipping needs are met., • End of day process, small package process, Amazon process, • Assist with training new shipping employees to current/updated standards, • Problem solving to better utilize current floor space., • Call freight carriers and arrange pick-up., • Increase output and reduce freight damage., • Fill-in where needed when shortstaffed., • Communicate effectively with other employees and departments regarding daily operations, any problems, schedule, orders, and completion of items., • Follow company policies: GMi Core Values, 6 “S”, and Safety/Quality procedures and standards., • Work company assigned hours for the position and additional hours if needed (regular and predictable attendance)., • Other duties as assigned. Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED and additional education preferred but not required. A minimum of two years of shipping experience is preferred but not required. Experience in operating box truck, straight truck, moving truck or equivalent. This position is in a manufacturing production plant environment where the temperature may vary hot or cold. In addition, worker is subject to climatic conditions since much of work is performed out of doors. The typical noise level is loud. Exposure to vibration, fumes or airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts.
