Job DescriptionAbout the Role We are seeking a Process Chemist to join our growing team! In this role, you will develop, optimize, and maintain production processes for resin and specialty coating systems, ensuring consistent product quality, efficiency, and compliance. You’ll serve as the crucial link between laboratory innovation and full-scale manufacturing, collaborating closely with R&D, production, and quality teams to deliver high-performing, sustainable coatings. Key Responsibilities Process Development & Optimization * Develop and refine coating formulation processes, including resin synthesis, pigment dispersion, and blending. * Optimize batch parameters for improved viscosity, color uniformity, drying time, and film performance. * Scale up formulations from pilot to full production, maintaining integrity and performance. * Identify and resolve process bottlenecks to enhance throughput, yield, and energy efficiency. Production & Technical Support * Provide on-the-floor support during production runs and troubleshoot deviations. * Partner with operators to ensure safe, reproducible mixing and curing processes. * Support introduction of new raw materials and process adjustments. * Develop and maintain SOPs and batch records. Quality Assurance & Compliance * Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality, adhesion, and chemical resistance standards. * Support QC in analytical test method development. * Conduct root cause analysis for off-spec batches and implement corrective actions. * Maintain EHS compliance (OSHA, EPA, REACH). * Track KPIs, ensure QMS compliance, and maintain calibration and QA documentation. * Provide training on quality assurance programs. Continuous Improvement & Innovation * Evaluate and implement new coating technologies and materials. * Collaborate with R&D on formulation transfers. * Lead or participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives. * Support new product introductions and SAP material setup. What You’ll Bring * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. * 3–5 years of experience in chemical coatings manufacturing. * Strong understanding of polymer chemistry and coating rheology. * Hands-on experience with process scale-up, dispersion technology, and polymerization reactions. * Proficiency with analytical instruments (viscometer, spectrophotometer, gloss meter). * Excellent communication, problem-solving, and data analysis skills. * Commitment to safety, precision, and continuous improvement. Work Environment This position operates in both laboratory and plant-floor environments, requiring adherence to PPE and chemical safety standards. You’ll engage in hands-on process development while collaborating across teams in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, stooping, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs). Travel: None required. Why Join Us? At HA International, you’ll be part of a team driving innovation in coatings technology—where quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement are at the heart of what we do. Apply today to make a measurable impact on the future of advanced coatings manufacturing.
