About the Homeschool Enrichment Program The STEAD School's Homeschool Enrichment Program gives elementary students flexible, part-time access to hands-on learning experiences in a community where homeschoolers belong and thrive. The program offers access to expert-led learning, lab-based science opportunities, creative arts, and immersive field experiences designed to spark curiosity and build real-world skills on a schedule that works for homeschool families. Our From Soil to Table enrichment course is part of this vision-blending greenhouse and farm production, culinary arts, animal science, financial literacy, and creative expression into a joyful learning experience. Students don't just read about agriculture and food systems; they plant, grow, cook, create, and showcase their learning in meaningful ways. Guides in this program are more than instructors-they are mentors and facilitators who design engaging, hands-on learning experiences, support student exploration, and build connections that make learning come alive. Position Summary The Homeschool Guide will co-crete, lead, and refine an innovative From Soil to Table enrichment program for elementary learners (~110 instructional hours/semester in the fall and spring semesters). This role integrates agricultural science, culinary arts, animal care, financial literacy, and creative expression into a holistic curriculum that helps students experience the journey of food from seed to plate. The Guide will facilitate instruction, coordinate field trips, foster connections between the student, parent, and school, and evolve the curriculum to ensure meaningful, hands-on, and joyful learning. Key Responsibilities Curriculum Delivery & Refinement • Implement and adapt the From Soil to Table curriculum across greenhouse, farm, lab, kitchen, classroom, and creative learning environments., • Integrate lessons that connect plant science, animal husbandry, culinary skills, and cultural history., • Continuously refine and evolve the curriculum based on student feedback, emerging best practices, exploration of new learning materials that integrate home and school learning, and program goals., • Facilitate hands-on activities in gardening, animal care, soil and plant science labs, and cooking workshops., • Mentor students and collaborate with parents to promote scientific inquiry, practical life skills, creativity, and collaboration., • Foster a safe, inclusive, and curiosity-driven environment where each learner feels valued., • Organize and lead 16 instructional days and 4 field trips (Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Denver Zoo, Colorado History Museum, Denver Botanic Gardens) per semester for the fall semester and spring semester., • Collaborate with families and program leadership to align goals, schedules, and compliance with homeschool standards., • Manage materials, equipment, and safe use of facilities (greenhouse, farm area, kitchen)., • Guide students in preparing final projects (recipe books, art, music, presentations)., • Coordinate the culminating showcase event featuring food, art, writing, and performances., • Promote student voice and creativity in connecting the agricultural journey to their lives and community. Qualifications Required • Bachelor's degree in Education, Agricultural Science, Culinary Arts, Environmental Studies, or related field (or equivalent experience)., • Experience teaching or mentoring children in experiential or project-based learning environments., • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills., • Previous experience coordinating field trips, outdoor learning, or community partnerships., • Current CPR/First Aid certification. Schedule & Compensation • $25-$35/hour depending on experience with additional incentive structures based on the number of students enrolled and classes offered., • Additional paid hours prep and planning time.
