MATERIAL HANDLER Job Description The Material Handler provides reliable shipping, receiving, storage, and order fulfillment services for finished goods, inventory, materials, supplies, parts, and equipment at the assigned facility. This role ensures that products are accurately processed, stored, and shipped in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and on-time performance. Responsibilities • Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and process items for storage and shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements., • Ensure customers receive the correct products in the quantities requested and within the required timeframes., • Receive materials and finished goods daily, verifying that the quality, type, and quantity of materials received are correct., • Review and confirm that all required documentation, such as packing lists, is accurate and complete for each shipment and receipt., • Work effectively in a warehouse environment that includes room temperature, cold-room, and freezer-room conditions., • Safely operate distribution and material handling equipment as required, including powered industrial trucks and equipment used at various heights., • Follow all site distribution standards, including Control of Documents and Quality Policy, after completing required training., • Understand and follow shipping, receiving, and inventory control procedures to support accurate inventory management., • Recognize and report deviations from accepted practices, procedures, or quality standards., • Interpret and use team metrics to support continuous improvement and operational effectiveness., • Communicate effectively with internal personnel at equivalent levels to coordinate work and provide strong customer service., • Follow policies, procedures, and instructions consistently and independently to meet schedules and production goals., • Maintain strong attendance and be ready to start work on time each day., • Participate in and complete equipment training through one-on-one instruction, on-the-job training, standard training protocols, and other training documentation., • Perform highly repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy, quality, and safety standards., • Handle packaged hazardous materials in accordance with training and safety procedures when required., • Support varying schedules, hours, shifts, and overtime needs as required by operational demands., • Occasionally travel locally as needed to support distribution and logistics activities. Essential Skills • 0–2 years of related experience in material handling, warehousing, or logistics., • Some experience in logistics within a life science environment preferred., • Proven ability to consistently and independently follow policies, procedures, and instructions., • Demonstrated ability to meet schedules and production deadlines., • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks safely, including operating equipment at various heights., • Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate ERP systems, use Outlook, and operate shipping software., • Good communication skills to interact effectively with internal personnel and support customer service., • Ability to understand and interpret team metrics and apply them to daily work., • Strong attention to detail to recognize deviations from standard practices and ensure accurate order fulfillment., • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment with varied temperature zones (ambient, cold-room, freezer-room)., • Familiarity with shipping, receiving, and inventory control procedures., • Comfort working with highly repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality., • Ability to handle packaged hazardous materials in compliance with training and safety procedures., • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and operational needs., • Willingness to participate in ongoing training through one-on-one instruction, on-the-job training, and standardized training protocols., • Customer service mindset with the ability to support internal stakeholders effectively. Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse environment that operates under a range of temperatures, including room temperature (approximately 59–86°ree;F), cold-room conditions (approximately 36–46°ree;F), and freezer-room conditions (approximately -4–23°ree;F). Work is highly repetitive and involves frequent walking, standing, and reaching. You will lift up to 25 lbs on a continuous basis, routinely push and pull up to 25 lbs, regularly climb, and occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 lbs. You may handle packaged hazardous materials following established safety procedures. The noise level is typically moderate to high. You must be available to work any shift, with advance notice of shift changes, and be flexible to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed. Occasional local travel may be required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
