Job DescriptionMaterial Handler – Steel Production Precision Steel Services — Toledo, OH Precision Steel Services has supplied steel across the Midwest since 1974. We are looking for a Material Handler to help move, stage, organize, package, and prepare material throughout our production and shipping process. This role is the engine behind material flow. As a Material Handler, you keep steel, parts, and customer orders moving through the operation. When material is staged, organized, packaged, and ready, production and shipping stay on schedule. When it is not, equipment waits, orders slow down, and the entire operation backs up. This is hands-on manufacturing work for someone with forklift experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized while keeping pace. Benefits • Direct hire position, • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, • 401(k) with company match, • Paid time off, • Life insurance, • Short-term disability and supplemental coverage options, • Performance and attendance-based incentives, • Ongoing training and skill development, • Cross-training and advancement opportunities, • Stable, full-time work with overtime opportunitiesWhat You’ll Do, • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment to move steel, parts, pallets, skids, and supplies, • Load and unload trucks while verifying material and order requirements, • Stage material for production, storage, shipping, or the next operation, • Package customer orders for shipment, including wrapping, banding, securing, labeling, and organizing material, • Prepare outgoing orders so they are clean, labeled, protected, and customer-ready, • Count pieces, verify tags, complete basic paperwork, and support accurate documentation, • Store materials and supplies in proper locations to support organization and production flow, • Keep staging and work areas clear so production and shipping do not stall, • Use safe lifting, stacking, and material handling practices, • Communicate material shortages, delays, order issues, damage, or safety concerns early, • Maintain clean, safe work areas and clear travel pathsWhat We Expect, • You keep material moving — this role supports the entire operation, • You operate equipment safely, carefully, and with control, • You stay organized — staging, labeling, placement, and order accuracy matter, • You package and prepare material like the customer is going to see it, because they are, • You work with urgency while avoiding shortcuts, • You pay attention to details like counts, tags, labels, paperwork, and load condition, • You take ownership of your area, equipment, and output, • You communicate early when something is missing, damaged, unclear, or unsafe, • You show up reliably and understand that attendance mattersRequired Qualifications, • Previous forklift operation experience required, • Previous material handling, warehouse, shipping, receiving, manufacturing, or industrial experience required, • Ability to safely move, stage, stack, and organize material, • Ability to perform hands-on work, including getting on and off equipment throughout the shift, • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry, wrap, band, and secure material as needed, • Strong attention to safety, detail, and organization, • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic, • Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly, • Ability to work in varying shop conditions, including heat, cold, noise, and active equipment movement, • Ability to work overtime, including weekends when requiredPreferred Qualifications, • Experience packaging customer orders for shipment, • Experience wrapping, banding, skidding, palletizing, or securing material, • Experience loading and unloading trucks, • Experience handling steel, metal, heavy parts, pallets, skids, or industrial material, • Crane, pallet jack, or other material handling equipment experience, • Shipping, receiving, inventory, staging, or order-picking experience, • Basic tape measure, counting, shop math, or paperwork experienceWhat Winning Looks Like, • Material is staged and ready for the next operation, • Production and shipping do not wait on missing, misplaced, or unprepared material, • Orders are packaged correctly, labeled clearly, and ready for the customer, • Trucks are loaded correctly and on time, • Material is organized, protected, and easy to find, • Counts, tags, paperwork, and documentation are accurate, • Work areas stay clean, safe, and controlled, • Problems are caught and communicated early, • The operation keeps flowing because material handling stays ahead of demandWhy Precision Steel Material Handlers do not just move steel.
