Job DescriptionTechnical Procedure Writer Location: Sacramento, CA - Hybrid Employment Type: Contract Industry: Financial Services Hourly Pay : $28-33/hr LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established financial services organization to identify a Senior Technical Procedure Writer. This role is critical to ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and consistent process execution across multiple business units including operations, member services, compliance, and retail banking. This position is ideal for a highly detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and deep experience in procedural documentation within banking or credit union environments. Position Overview The Senior Technical Procedure Writer is responsible for independently designing, developing, and managing enterprise procedural documentation strategies that drive clarity, efficiency, and compliance across the organization. This individual will lead multiple documentation initiatives simultaneously, translate complex operational processes into user-friendly formats, and partner with stakeholders at all levels to ensure accuracy and usability. This role operates with a high level of autonomy and requires strong judgment, advanced writing expertise, and the ability to influence business outcomes through documentation quality and governance. Key Responsibilities Documentation Strategy & Development • Design, develop, and implement procedural documentation frameworks that align with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements, • Author, revise, and maintain clear, concise, and standardized procedures for business and technical processes, • Translate complex, non-standardized workflows into intuitive, user-centric documentation for diverse audiences, • Develop visual aids such as process flows, diagrams, and system screenshots to enhance usability, • Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, and governance best practicesProject Leadership & Execution, • Lead multiple documentation projects from initiation through completion with minimal supervision, • Develop project plans, define priorities, and manage competing deadlines across concurrent initiatives, • Track and report project status, risks, and dependencies to key stakeholders, • Coordinate review cycles, approvals, and stakeholder feedback loops, • Ensure documentation aligns with system changes, audit findings, and business updatesStakeholder Collaboration & Research, • Conduct independent research and facilitate interviews with subject matter experts, business leaders, and frontline staff, • Build and maintain strong working relationships across operations, compliance, IT, and business teams, • Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on procedural writing and documentation best practices, • Support cross-functional initiatives and provide documentation expertise within project teamsCompliance & Process Improvement, • Interpret and translate complex regulatory requirements (e.g., BSA/AML, financial compliance standards) into actionable procedures, • Maintain up-to-date documentation in response to regulatory changes, audit findings, and internal policy updates, • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve operational efficiency, and reduce risk, • Ensure documentation supports audit readiness and regulatory adherence across all business unitsBusiness Readiness & Implementation Support, • Assist with rollout of new or updated procedures, including communication and distribution to end users, • Respond to questions and provide clarification to ensure proper adoption and execution, • Support training initiatives and knowledge-sharing efforts, • Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation practices and internal knowledge management systemsQualifications Required Experience • 5+ years of experience in technical or procedural writing, preferably within banking or credit union environments, • Proven experience managing multiple documentation projects with minimal oversight, • Strong background translating complex processes into structured, user-friendly documentation, • Experience supporting audit, compliance, or regulatory-driven documentation initiativesEducation, • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related fieldTechnical Skills, • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), • Strong experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, and documentation repositories, • Experience with Power BI or reporting/analytics tools preferred, • Familiarity with financial systems such as:, • LoansPQ, • Teller Navigator, • DataSafe, • Fiserv platforms, • Experience creating process maps using tools such as Visio or similarCore Competencies, • Exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy, • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to manage ambiguity and prioritize across multiple initiatives, • Strong organizational and project management skills, • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to create user-centric content, • Ability to work independently while influencing cross-functional stakeholdersWhy This Opportunity, • Play a key role in driving operational consistency and regulatory compliance within a respected financial institution, • High visibility across business units, including operations, compliance, and member services, • Opportunity to lead enterprise-level documentation initiatives with measurable impact, • Collaborative, professional environment with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvementPay Details: $28.00 to $33.00 per hour Search managed by: Scott McKeen Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
