Job Description Account Manager – Fire & Life Safety (SMA Coordinator) Location: Glendora, CA (In-Office) Department: Service Department Pay Rate: $35 – $40 per hour About the Role Building Electronic Controls (BEC) is looking for an experienced, relationship-driven Account Manager (internally titled SMA Coordinator) to join our Service Department. This role is dedicated to elevating the experience of our Service & Maintenance Agreement (SMA) Partners — BEC’s most valued and long-standing customer relationships. As the liaison for a portfolio of high-priority fire/life safety accounts, you’ll blend customer support and engagement, account oversight, contract administration, and service coordination into one impactful position. What You’ll Be Doing Account Management & Customer Engagement • Serve as the primary support contact for assigned SMA accounts, providing white-glove service and proactive communication., • Coordinate Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual) and oversee the scheduling workflow from start to finish., • Follow up after PM visits to review findings, discuss recommended repairs, and ensure customers feel supported and informed., • Lead SMA customer onboarding and virtual contract kick-off meetings to review coverage, expectations, and benefits., • Identify opportunities for added value — such as monitoring, testing, system upgrades, or enhanced SMA packages., • Solve service challenges by coordinating across departments and ensuring timely resolution., • Occasional opportunities for on-site customer visits to participate in meetings, support activities, or special events. Contract Administration • Maintain administrative oversight of SMA contracts, including deliverables, billing requirements, renewal cycles, and system updates., • Verify accuracy of monthly SMA billings and review associated Time & Material (T&M) service costs for invoicing., • Maintain accurate contact information for billing, emergency, and site-level personnel., • Collaborate with the Contracts Department to review terms & conditions and ensure compliance with BEC standards. Service & Operations Coordination • Support T&M work orders outside of PM visits — creating work orders, ordering needed parts, and assisting with scheduling., • Monitor open work orders through completion, including ticket review, bill proofing, and invoice preparation., • Partner closely with Monitoring, Testing, and Service Coordinators to ensure SMA sites receive prioritized attention. Team Collaboration & Department Support • Work closely with the Director of Customer Success and Service Manager to align on customer engagement, renewal strategies, and account retention., • Participate in departmental planning discussions and share insights from SMA site performance., • Assist in strengthening department operations through strong communication, documentation, and service delivery coordination. What We’re Looking For • 3–5 years of account management, customer relationship management, or service coordination experience (fire/life safety or building systems preferred)., • A strong relationship builder with excellent communication skills — both written and verbal., • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and customer needs., • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment when coordinating solutions., • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in documentation, scheduling, and billing., • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely across teams and departments., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with service management platforms (ComputerEase or similar) is a plus., • Prior experience with billing, invoicing, or contract-related processes is strongly preferred.
