Job Description The Property Large Loss General Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving complex property insurance claims involving significant structural, commercial, or high-value residential losses. This role requires expert technical knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage large-scale claims from initial assignment through final resolution while providing superior customer service to policyholders, agents, and internal partners. Qualifications: • 15+ years of property claims adjusting experience, including handling large or complex losses., • Active Adjuster License(s) as required by state (or ability to obtain)., • Strong technical knowledge of property construction, building codes, and repair methodologies., • Proficiency with claims technology and estimating software (e.g., Xactimate), • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills., • Ability to travel frequently, sometimes on short notice, including CAT deployments., • Preferred experience with commercial property, industrial risks, or high-net-worth residential claims., • Preferred professional certifications (AIC, CPCU, PCLA, SCLA, or similar)., • Lead comprehensive investigations of major property losses, including fire, water, wind, catastrophe-related damage, and specialty commercial claims., • Conduct on-site inspections to determine scope, cause, and extent of damages., • Analyze policy coverage, exclusions, and endorsements to establish claim validity and compensability., • Coordinate and oversee experts such as engineers, forensic accountants, contractors, appraisers, or specialty consultants., • Develop detailed estimates, scopes of repair, and settlement valuations using industry-standard tools (e.g., Xactimate)., • Manage large and complex claim files, ensuring timely and accurate documentation throughout the life cycle of the claim., • Communicate regularly with insureds, agents, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to provide updates and set expectations., • Negotiate fair and efficient settlements in accordance with policy terms, industry standards, and company guidelines., • Identify potential fraud indicators and follow appropriate escalation procedures., • Serve as a subject matter expert on high-severity property claims to colleagues, underwriting teams, and management., • Mentor junior adjusters and contribute to departmental training and development initiatives., • Participate in large-loss reviews, audits, and quality assurance programs., • Prepare detailed reports, coverage analyses, and settlement recommendations for management review., • Ensure all claim handling practices comply with state regulations, company procedures, and industry best practices., • Maintain accurate, organized files and meet all timelines for regulatory and internal reporting., • Field-based role with significant travel requirements., • Ability to inspect damaged structures, including climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, or working in post-disaster environments.
