Details about the role: REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Facilities Manager POSITION OVERVIEW: The Facilities Maintenance Technician II performs a variety of routine, scheduled, and unscheduled semi-skilled maintenance for the facilities and vehicle fleet; ensures that facilities, fleet, and equipment are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, mechanical, carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and automotive work. Operates a variety of maintenance tools and equipment; and performs related work as required. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Follows the Service Ticket Request system and completes all documentation for work performed, in a timely manner., • Perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance for shelter facilities, including mechanical, plumbing, landscaping, painting, HVAC, electrical tasks, and automotive-related work., • Ensures that the fleet, facilities, and grounds are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition., • Troubleshoot and repair tools, systems, and equipment; escalate complex repairs to Manager., • Complete preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as scheduled or assigned., • Conduct regular safety and security inspections; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to Manager., • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance tasks for facilities and equipment., • Performs unscheduled maintenance tasks., • Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required., • Performs landscaping and grounds maintenance., • Monitor’s inventory and submits purchase requests for facilities related items., • Maintains records and logs of maintenance activities in the Service Request system., • Assists and serves as back-up to other Facilities employees., • Provide special event support by helping with setup, takedown, or logistics., • Performs all other duties as requested or assigned by Supervisor or Manager., • Reports suspicion of animal abuse or neglect to any Manager or above immediately., • Reports any unsafe working conditions to any Manager or above immediately., • Maintains client, donor, volunteer, and staff confidentiality at all times., • Follows SOPs and other safety regulations at all times., • Completes all necessary and requested training in a timely manner in accordance with shelter policy., • Attends staff meetings., • Participates in shelter events as requested by Supervisor., • Performs other duties as requested or assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent., • Minimum of three (5) years of relevant maintenance experience., • Methods and techniques used in the operation repair, and maintenance of fleet, facilities, and equipment., • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools and other maintenance equipment., • Knowledge of safety standards and occupational hazards., • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records., • Commitment to providing excellent customer service., • Perform semi-skilled facility, fleet, and equipment maintenance., • Safely and effectively use, operate, and maintain equipment and tools., • Perform heavy manual labor., • Understand, interpret, and apply all pertinent laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures., • Independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments., • Demonstrate strong customer service skills and establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships., • Maintain records and files on work performed., • Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing., • Supports Operation Kindness mission and understands how it is organized and functions as a non-profit organization., • Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate a variety of tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and to distinguish colors in wiring; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio., • Frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards., • Finger dexterity needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, and to operate tools and equipment., • Incumbents in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and inspect work sites., • Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.
