Apply Now Income Officer – Social Housing Location: North West England Contract: 3-Month Temporary (Strong Potential for Extension) Working Pattern: Hybrid (Home Working with Estate & Office Visits) We are working in partnership with a respected Housing Association operating across the North West, who are looking to recruit an experienced Income Officer to support their income management team. This is a great opportunity for a proactive rent management professional who can hit the ground running and make a real difference to residents. Role Overview As an Income Officer, you will manage a patch of rent accounts, maximising income collection while supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies. You’ll take a customer-focused, early-intervention approach to arrears management, escalating to legal action where necessary. Key Responsibilities • Manage a patch of rent accounts across general needs and/or supported housing, • Proactively monitor rent arrears and take early action to prevent escalation, • Engage with residents to agree and maintain sustainable repayment plans, • Provide advice and guidance on welfare benefits, Universal Credit, and financial inclusion, • Prepare and progress cases for legal action, including court attendance when required, • Work collaboratively with Housing Officers, Financial Inclusion teams, and external agencies, • Maintain accurate rent account records, case notes, and legal documentation, • Carry out home visits and attend meetings across the patch as required About You • Previous experience as an Income Officer, Rent Officer, or similar (minimum 12–18 months), • Strong knowledge of rent recovery, housing legislation, and welfare benefits, • Confident managing arrears cases from early intervention through to court action, • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, • Experience working with vulnerable residents and partner agencies, • Comfortable lone-working and managing a diverse caseload, • Available to start on 5th January with no notice restrictions Why Apply? • Well-established and supportive Housing Association, • Genuine opportunity for contract extension or permanent role, • Hybrid and flexible working model, • Chance to make a meaningful impact on residents’ financial wellbeing If this role sounds like a good fit, please apply with your most recent CV.
