About Us Leisure Works is an ambitious new hospitality brand, launching its first venue at the Grosvenor Arms, a two-floor venue on Garratt Lane in Earsfield. We're not opening a cafe, and we're not opening a pub, we're building a neighbourhood institution: a place people come to in the morning for coffee and a desk, return to in the evening for a pint and dinner, and hire out for private events and weekly programming in between. We're not a chain, and we don't want to feel like one. We're looking for someone who cares about getting to know the regulars, remembers how people take their coffee, and takes real pride in running a tight, welcoming floor. The Role We're looking for an Assistant Manager to take ownership of our evening operations. You'll be the one steering the floor once the venue transitions from daytime cafe to evening pub and dining service, making sure service stays smooth, the team stays supported, and the venue closes down properly and safely every night. This is a hands on, floor first role. You'll be visible, present, and actively managing the room, not tucked away doing admin. Key Responsibilities Closing & Nightly Operations Take full responsibility for closing the venue: cashing up, securing the premises, end-of-night checks, and ensuring all closing procedures are followed correctly and consistently Handle any end-of-night issues (guest, staff, or premises-related) calmly and appropriately, escalating to the General Manager where needed Floor Management Own the floor during evening service: tables, flow, pacing, and guest experience across both the dining and bar side of the business Step in on the floor personally during busy periods, this is a working manager role Coordinate smoothly between kitchen, bar, and front-of-house teams to keep service running well Manage the shift transition from daytime cafe service into evening pub/dining service Team Leadership Supervise and support front of house and bar staff during evening shifts, including briefing staff at the start of shift and debriefing at close Provide on the spot coaching and act as the go to problem solver for the team during your shift Keep the rota up to date and communicated clearly to the team ahead of each wee k Guest Experience Champion the venue's personalised, neighbourhood feel; greeting regulars by name, remembering preferences, and making sure every guest (new or returning) feels genuinely looked after Handle guest feedback and any complaints with warmth and good judgement, resolving issues on the spot wherever possible What We're Looking For Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in hospitality; a restaurant or gastro pub background is preferred Confident running a floor solo during busy evening service Comfortable with end-of-night responsibilities A genuine people person, someone who enjoys building relationships with regulars and creating a warm, personal atmosphere rather than a corporate one Calm under pressure and a natural problem-solver Flexibility to work evenings, closing shifts, and weekends An understanding of, or enthusiasm for, the mixed cafe/pub/events format, comfortable moving between different service styles across one shift Local to or familiar with the Wandsworth/Earlsfield area is a plus, but not essential What We Offer The chance to help shape a genuinely independent, community-rooted venue A varied role, no two shifts look quite the same, between cafe service, evening dining, and events A team-first culture where your input on how things run actually matters First site of a growing group, genuine progression as we open more venues, with a clear path toward a Venue Manager role Meals on shift and staff discount TPBN1_UKCT
