    Job Summary Waking Night Support worker / Carer to join a lovely team around a friendly 19 year old teenager who has epilepsy, non verbal autism, movement disorder and additional health needs. He lives at home with his family and friendly dog. About the position Weekly hours minimum 26 hours We are looking for someone to take on 2 regular waking nights (13hr each night shift so in total 26 hours) ideally Thursday and Friday nights (but please let us know which nights work for you and we can then consider). These are strictly waking nights in the family home. More weekly hours are possible sometimes but not less hours. After successful training the rate increases from £16 to £17 per hours. Per night shift: £221 after training. This is a self-employed position with UTR number - no PAYE. This would suit a student of a relevant health related subject. Candidate would need to be able to commit to 12 months. About the young person who needs support: The young man needs someone to spot seizures or other health emergencies and if needed call the parents who are in the same house. The monitoring is with seizure video monitor and heart rate monitor and regular in person checks. These nights can be quite active - as if he has a seizure he might have to be accompanied via ambulance to A&E. Good command of the English language is essential. All training is during the day first through shadowing. About you: This position will suit someone who ideally has already worked with autistic and disabled adults and has already experience. But it is very different from working in a care home. But we would are be able to train you in personal care, catheterisation, medication administration, peristeen and positive behaviour support and other essential skills - if you are a suitable candidate. His environment will need to be kept clean and tidy (it is not a cleaner position but to ensure that his environment stays tidy, safe and fit for purpose). You will help with his laundry too. We would prefer someone to work on a self-employed basis with a UTR number (not cash in hand). It is exactly 26 hours minimum per week. We hope to find someone who has specific interest in special needs. It is not a summer job but we hope to find someone to commit for a minimum of 12months. We would need someone to take on 2 waking nights per week – the nights we need covering are the nights we need covering are Wednesday and Thursday. These are 13 hour night shifts in the family home of the young man. These shifts are strictly waking nights to spot seizures (with video monitor and heart rate monitor). We are looking for someone experienced. On waking night shifts you need sufficient time to rest as you will need to be awake and alert during the waking night shifts. This position can not be taken as a second position next to a full time job. There is the for more hours with either an occasional extra night or day time shifts. We ideally need someone who legally can work more than 20 hours per week. It might be suitable for a student of a related field (medical, Psychology or anything health related). You would often work together with other team members at the beginning or end of your shift (eg for bath time). Day shifts might available too on occasion. You would be assisting the young man with everyday skills and activities as well as feeding, bathing and toileting. It would be preferable if you are experienced with IC catheterisation otherwise we will train you. When working a waking overnight you will need to make sure that he is safe and alert parents in case of a seizure. You need to tidy and keep his environment clean and tidy. You should be responsible, cheerful, honest and very reliable and physically strong (relatively tall) and healthy as he needs a lot of support and is immune compromised. You will be trained by members of the experienced team in all of his health needs but also the principles of ABA - a behaviour therapy. You will need to attend some of the team meetings too. There will be a general schedule but you will still need to be a bit flexible and sometime cover for other people in the team. You should: • Commit for minimum a year., • ideally be self-employed., • Invoice at the end of every month, • Able to work legally in the UK, • Be based in London, • Non Smokers and non Vapers only., • Needs to be comfortable with dogs.
