Fire Engineer - Building Safety & Remediation £100,000 - £130,000 + Package | Nationwide (Home-Based) | Leading Residential Contractor I'm pleased to be working with a prominent residential contractor to recruit a Fire Engineer for their Building Safety team, offering between £100,000 and £130,000 plus comprehensive package. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a specialist technical function focused exclusively on the delivery of remediation projects across mid and high-rise residential buildings throughout the UK. The Fire Engineer will provide technical fire safety expertise across a national portfolio of re-cladding and remediation schemes, working with major housing associations and development clients. You'll be instrumental in ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Gateway processes, and current fire safety regulations on some of the most significant building safety programmes in the country. Key Responsibilities: • Providing fire engineering expertise across mid and high-rise remediation and re-cladding projects, • Developing and reviewing fire strategies for buildings undergoing façade remediation, • Leading technical input for Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 submissions to the Building Safety Regulator, • Conducting fire risk assessments and advising on remediation strategies for non-compliant cladding systems (ACM, HPL, etc.), • Ensuring compliance with PAS 9980, Building Safety Act 2022, and all HRB regulations, • Coordinating with design teams, contractors, and specialist consultants on fire safety integration, • Reviewing compartmentation, means of escape, passive and active fire protection measures, • Producing EWS1 assessments and supporting mortgage/insurance requirements, • Managing fire safety aspects of Building Safety Fund and Cladding Safety Scheme projects, • Advising on interim fire safety measures for occupied buildings during remediation works, • Liaising with Building Safety Regulator, Building Control, and Fire & Rescue Services, • Supporting project teams across Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, and London, • Maintaining Golden Thread documentation and fire safety information requirements, • Providing technical leadership and guidance to site and pre-construction teams The Ideal Candidate: • Chartered Fire Engineer (CEng MIFireE) or working towards chartership, • Proven experience in fire engineering within construction or consultancy environments, • Strong knowledge of remediation and re-cladding projects (highly desirable), • Deep understanding of Building Safety Act 2022, Gateway processes, and HRB regulations, • Expertise in PAS 9980 and fire risk assessment for existing buildings, • Knowledge of non-compliant cladding systems and remediation strategies, • Experience with façade fire safety and combustible materials regulations, • Understanding of EWS1 processes and building safety certification, • Excellent technical report writing and stakeholder communication skills, • Background in residential high-rise buildings (essential), • Experience working with housing associations or social landlords advantageous, • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, • Full UK driving licence, • Ex-Fire Service or Building Control backgrounds welcomed What's On Offer: • Exceptional salary between £100,000 and £130,000, • Company car or car allowance, • Performance-related bonus scheme, • Comprehensive pension provision, • Private healthcare and benefits package, • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, • Home-based working with flexible arrangements, • Occasional travel to London HQ for meetings and collaboration, • Work on nationally significant building safety programmes, • Collaborate with leading housing associations and clients, • Operate across major UK cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, and Nottingham, • Join established Building Safety team with strong technical reputation, • Career development and progression opportunities, • Make a genuine difference to residential building safety post-Grenfell This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of the UK's building safety agenda, applying your fire engineering expertise to remediation projects that directly improve safety for thousands of residents.
