The successful candidate will create a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment that supports pupils to achieve both academically and personally.\n\nThe role involves working closely with pastoral teams, therapists, families and external agencies to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, resilience and successful outcomes for learners with additional needs.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTeaching and Learning\n\nPlan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEMH needs and associated learning difficulties.\nAdapt teaching strategies to engage disaffected and vulnerable learners.\nCreate a positive, inclusive and trauma-informed classroom environment.\nAssess, monitor and record pupil progress in line with school policies.\nPrepare pupils for qualifications appropriate to their needs and abilities.\nUse behaviour management strategies effectively to support learning and emotional regulation.\n\nBehaviour and Pastoral Support\n\nDevelop positive and professional relationships with pupils built on consistency, trust and respect.\nSupport pupils in managing behaviour and emotional challenges.\nImplement behaviour support plans, risk assessments and intervention strategies.\nPromote attendance, engagement and positive attitudes to learning.\nAct as a form tutor/key worker where required.\n\nSEND and Safeguarding\n\nContribute to EHCP reviews, annual reviews and target setting.\nWork collaboratively with the SEND team and external professionals.\nEnsure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.\nMaintain accurate records relating to pupil welfare, progress and behaviour.\n\nPartnership Working\n\nBuild positive relationships with parents/carers and professionals.\nAttend meetings, reviews and multi-agency discussions as required.\nContribute to whole-school improvement and enrichment activities.\n\nProfessional Responsibilities\n\nMaintain high professional standards and uphold school values.\nParticipate in CPD, supervision and staff training.\nSupport colleagues and contribute positively to the wider staff team.\n\nPerson Specification\n\nEssential Criteria\n\nQualifications\n\nQualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.\nDegree or relevant teaching qualification.\n\nExperience\n\nExperience teaching Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4 pupils.\nExperience working with pupils with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.\nExperience managing behaviour positively and effectively.\n\nKnowledge and Skills\n\nUnderstanding of SEMH needs and trauma-informed practice.\nStrong classroom management skills.\nAbility to differentiate learning effectively.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to build positive relationships with hard-to-reach learners.\nGood understanding of safeguarding and child protection.\n\nPersonal Qualities\n\nResilient, calm and adaptable.\nEmpathetic and nurturing approach.\nTeam player with a positive attitude.\nCommitted to inclusion and pupil wellbeing. \n\n#INDLEE
